It is good to regain consciousness (and find myself 😷 with good 🏥 care)… It’s been a rough few months - I am grateful that the intervention went well so far, while recovery proceeds ❤️🩹 - thankful for all the support (and patience as healing continues) - take care everyone⚕️!🙏🏼

After weeks dismounting our precious and beloved equipment, today we made it to the Feringa bulging. The optical tables made an elegant exit from the old building and a very grand entrance in the new one! 😉

Obviously the way how grants are evaluated is not working, in particular with the increasing pressure of numbers on the system. An other question is if we are really trained to recognise ground breaking ideas! Are we all up to the task? Something to reflect about 🧠

I cannot be more excited with the Nobel
promise in chemistry this year!!!!! Quantum dots and nano technology. I still remember meeting Moungi in his office and lecturing me on how to be successful. Congrats to Moungi, Brus and Ekimov and all my colleagues that pioneer the field!
