The great gold belt buckle from Sutton Hoo is a masterpiece of Anglo-Saxon metalwork. Decorated with 13 snakes, predatory birds and long-limbed beasts,it also contains an ingenious triple-lock mechanism. A striking symbol of wealth, power and elite status. Credit: British Museum

The White Horse Temple is located in Luoyang, Henan Province. It is the first  Buddhist  temple in China. The temple was originally established in 68AD under the patronage of Emperor Mingdi during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Luoyang served as the capital city of Eastern Han Dynasty.

Carreg Samson because 1. It's #TombTuesday and this is a really great Neolithic dolmen and 2. I'm excited to be heading to wonderful Wales very soon! (Although not Pembrokeshire.)

Pingyao Ancient Town is located 94 km southwest of Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The town was originally built during the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046BC – 771BC) and rebuilt in 1370 of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Pingyao Ancient Town is one of best preserved old cities in China.

Around 4,000 years ago in Bactria, a winged goddess was carved into polished dark stone, surrounded by tulips or poppies. Zigzags and waves evoking mountains and rivers decorate this Bronze Age vessel from the mysterious Oxus Civilization. Louvre Museum.

The beautiful and atmospheric interior of the Church of St. Nicholas, Swineshead, Bedfordshire- one of my favourites 🤩 It dates mainly from the 14th and 15th centuries and has lots of interesting architectural details, faint traces of a wall painting and some excellent pews 🥰
