Pokémon Center has a limit of 2 PC Exclusive ETBs per account, and allegedly even per billing address/mailing address. So explain to me how this hype beast kid got 100 Ascended Heroes PC Exclusive ETBs. #PokemonTCG

@DotsCardShop @SirDiesAlot92 @JMicro_ In case you didn’t know, we all start businesses to lose money, obviously. We love spending all of our time selling products to make $.01 on every dollar worth of a purchase. 😂

@SirDiesAlot92 @JMicro_ I don’t wait in lines or have anyone wait in lines, that would be a waste of my time. Idk what you want tbh, I can’t control what price my suppliers give me in China. If they gave me them for $5 i’d sell for $5.80. Worry about yourself and quit crying on the internet

Doubtful. Typical release is tons of packs get ripped, prices are astronomical, then it’s race to the bottom as there’s a sell off . This time around less packs are ripped because less are released, which means less hits pulled, keeping prices higher. You would need 12 tech sticker collections for the equivalent of one booster box. Also gives people more tim to grade hits and keep prices higher. You’ll see.

@PhxTCG With more waves of stock coming in, that means more packs ripped. Prices drop on every set on singles. This set will 100% be the same

I haven’t looked at the market for this set, but if these are the prices of the singles with a very scarce drop of 3 packs, the prices will tank by the time the booster bundles drop and many, many more packs are finally opened. Please don’t FOMO on the singles

🚨 BREAKING: ICE/Border Patrol agents are now ramming civilian cars, forcing them through red lights, and driving away in Minneapolis. In this video, you can see an agent who has their bumper right up against a car stopped at a red light… no emergency lights, no sirens. The agent then accelerates and physically pushes the car through the intersection while the light is still red. The car turns. The agent turns. Then the agent just drives off. That is not enforcement. That is reckless, dangerous, and illegal. Federal agents do not have the legal authority to hit civilian vehicles, force them into traffic violations, or flee the scene. That’s vehicular assault. That’s abuse of power. And it puts everyone on the road at risk. If local police did this, people would be calling it exactly what it is. So why are federal agents being allowed to do it in plain sight?

I’d argue all of your points. Pokemon Go and now Pocket, brought in more people that would have never really interacted with Pokemon cards, or Pokemon in general. We live in a time where hype, fomo, social media, and ease of access to online purchasing and addictive advertising makes businesses see incredible profits. Pokemon isn’t immune to this. I’d argue that the majority of pokemon’s revenue is in fact NOT the collectors of old, but the new generation gambling and looking for a hit. The pokebros coming over from crypto. The TikToks and rip n shippers. The investors buying and holding sealed for 20 plus years. If anything, what you described is the OG’s unloading product right now getting out of the hobby because they’re upset. So they’re just flooding the market with new inventory for the above groups to scoop up and move on. The “community” you talk about is just the vocal minority. Like the people on Reddit that complain about a video game or movie release. They’re loud, but make up the minority of sales. Not to mention, they just stop buying sealed and end up buying singles of their favorite cards. They don’t vote with their wallet. I hope you’re right, but I don’t see this stopping anytime soon, and I don’t think Pokemon wants it to either. They could have gone the much less expensive route and put restrictions on distros instead of opening up a 1.2 million sf warehouse, but they didn’t.

Because that is what kept them around for 30 years. The hype cycle we are currently in is barely a year old and it's literally created by people who were around to buy cards as kids because they were readily available. And most of the Pokemon community isn't happy and that's the miscorrelation your making. They will make a small percentage happy and potentially risk losing more long term customers over time. Longevity is the goal of a big business, not short term profit. The hype cycle and appealing to it is short term thinking. Most of the people spending crazy amounts on booster boxes will unlikely be into the hobby in 15-20 years, many will be dead. And if you don't have product available for the younger generation of newer collectors, they will hurt in the long term. The same people who don't buy plushes, toys, mangas, licensed clothing, books, deck boxes, binders, watches the anime, attends the events, plays the video games. Pokemon isn't just the TCG and Pokemon as a company knows this. They rather appeal to the customer base that will spend money on their franchise, not just the cards. And as a company, they have always looked at the long term. The goal of any company is and should be long term growth, not short term profit. And if Pokemon was just a collectible trading card franchise, I'd agree with you. But there are many more variables that indicates Pokemon is likely going to mass prints the current sets when the facility is ready and running.

Here’s what I can tell you. They took 400,000 sf now, and are constructing another 800,000 sf. I couldn’t find the actual space they took, but the going rate in the same campus is between $13-$18psf. A deal like that is going to be at least a 10 year min term, if not 20 or more plus options given the construction aspect. You’re looking at, on the low end, $15,600,000 a year in just rent. Plus salaries, utilities, and other operating expenses. All for the purpose of printing more of the same sets to get it into more people’s hands, effectively reducing demand by increasing supply. Explain to me why Pokemon wants to go back to product sitting on shelves all over the country like it did during SW/SH? A business this large doesn’t commit to something that substantial operationally just to make sure the poke base is happy and can get existing product. That’s all I’m saying.

Mega Kanga boxes are sitting for quite a while now, and online you can find them $3 above MSRP. You also probably didn't experience what happened to MTG for collectors when they did this exact thing, they kept pumping out products instead of reprinting or focusing on their hot products. And even with hype, not every set or product is a banger. SFA booster bundles sat so long on PC that they turned off the queue and you could still buy them. Mega Kanga boxes are sitting on shelves for a while as well. When TWM ETBs hit store shelves, they sit for a while too because market is close to MSRP. Pokemon pumping out more products and sets will only lead to burnout and kill the hype worse than reprinting ever could. They would have to pump out more bland artworks to rush sets into creation. They would make sets that have no player interest. Oversaturation with more SKUs and sets is worse than just meeting demand or exceeding it on products people want. As a company, Pokemon should not bank their entire model on hype that has constantly been influenced by inflation, market manipulation, etc. And you also ignore the reality with your logic that Pokemon still needs kids invested into their TCG to last as long as they can. They want kids to walk in to stores and be able to find something. More SKUs means everything will still be bought out. I'll admit I'm wrong if they go this route, but I have collected various TCGs for over 25 years and I doubt Pokemon is gonna pump out more sets as it's just not a logical step for their franchise, their game, or their longevity as a hobby.

Because right now everything is getting bought out, not just DRI or AH or whatever. The best thing they could do to increase profits is print more sets, not more product, because scarcity feeds FOMO, keeping demand high. The amount of people willing to buy an etb at $60 is x, $90 is y, $120 is z, and on on and on. But EVERYBODY is buying at MSRP, and once that ship has sailed, they look into the next set to grab at msrp. Not to mention the sooner sets go out of print the more valuable they are, which still benefits Pokemon because again, it pushes people into newer product to participate in the hype. My 2 cents anyway.

@PhxTCG @FadilhoVB And that profit comes with printing the stuff people want. If DRI or AH is constantly being cleared, why as a company would I not print more of the set making me money? Make it make sense

@CardGameNomad @FadilhoVB Demand has never been higher though. My expectation of a company is to try and generate as much profit as possible. So it wouldn’t surprise me

@FadilhoVB @PhxTCG And they have done 4 regular sets for a very long time. The only thing that has changed is the number of special sets. A main set in February/March, May/June, August/September, and November. They have done this for most of their time as a TCG.

Have they ever said there is a hard and fast rule that the English needs to line up with the Japanese sets? And they did set up a new facility. Arguably one of the largest commercial real estate deals that wasn’t a redevelopment play was the deal they just did. The card game is the only thing I don’t have an answer for. But they could just increase which sets are rotate out, or print “special” sets with unplayable cards. They’re Pokemon, they could technically do whatever they want.

They aren't going to release more sets as we still align with Japanese releases, and they would also have to rent a new facility to make more sets. They also have the actual card game that they actually invest in. This would only make sense if they were gonna match Japanese releases and give us more, but smaller sets.

@CardGameNomad I love how we haven’t even been able to pre order anything other than ascended heroes ETBs, and now we’re looking at another set. People are thinking Pokémon’s new printing facility is for reprints, would be funny if it’s just to increase the amount of sets printed per year.
