New Anthropic research: Emotion concepts and their function in a large language model.
All LLMs sometimes act like they have emotions. But why? We found internal representations of emotion concepts that can drive Claude’s behavior, sometimes in surprising ways.

The AI Scientist: Towards Fully Automated AI Research, Now Published in Nature Nature: nature.com/articles/s4158… Blog: sakana.ai/ai-scientist-n… When we first introduced The AI Scientist, we shared an ambitious vision of an agent powered by foundation models capable of executing the entire machine learning research lifecycle. From inventing ideas and writing code to executing experiments and drafting the manuscript, the system demonstrated that end-to-end automation of the scientific process is possible. Soon after, we shared a historic update: the improved AI Scientist-v2 produced the first fully AI-generated paper to pass a rigorous human peer-review process. Today, we are happy to announce that “The AI Scientist: Towards Fully Automated AI Research,” our paper describing all of this work, along with fresh new insights, has been published in @Nature! This Nature publication consolidates these milestones and details the underlying foundation model orchestration. It also introduces our Automated Reviewer, which matches human review judgments and actually exceeds standard inter-human agreement. Crucially, by using this reviewer to grade papers generated by different foundation models, we discovered a clear scaling law of science. As the underlying foundation models improve, the quality of the generated scientific papers increases correspondingly. This implies that as compute costs decrease and model capabilities continue to exponentially increase, future versions of The AI Scientist will be substantially more capable. Building upon our previous open-source releases (github.com/SakanaAI/AI-Sc…), this open-access Nature publication comprehensively details our system's architecture, outlines several new scaling results, and discusses the promise and challenges of AI-generated science. This substantial milestone is the result of a close and fruitful collaboration between researchers at Sakana AI, the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Vector Institute, and the University of Oxford. AI text detection will never be fully accurate because it is a moving target. As models improve, the way they write keeps changing. What feels easy to flag today will look completely normal tomorrow.

I ran some of my writing through an AI checker. 29.7% robot-generated! Thing is, it obviously wasn't. Ethical and creative reasons aside, the book in question is nearly a decade old - well before technology could do this. 1/3

⚠️ iOS Security Alert | Immediate System Update Required for iOS Users
Apple is urging iPhone/iPad users to update iOS immediately.
Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) recently disclosed a critical iOS exploit chain known as “DarkSword,” affecting iOS 18.4 to 18.7.
This issue is not related to any exchange or wallet application, but is a system-level vulnerability in iOS.
Attackers may exploit this vulnerability when users visit compromised (but seemingly legitimate) websites. The exploit may be triggered automatically without any user interaction, allowing attackers to extract sensitive data, including crypto wallet information. The malware may also erase its traces after execution, making detection extremely difficult.
If your device is running iOS 18.4–18.7, you may be at risk.
Immediate Actions Recommended:
1️⃣ Update your iPhone/iPad to the latest iOS version immediately
2️⃣ Avoid clicking on unknown links or visiting untrusted websites
3️⃣ Review app permissions and disable any unnecessary access
4️⃣ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on all crypto-related accounts and ensure withdrawal whitelist is activated
We believe it’s important to share this security alert with all users and not just Binance users.

We’ve identified industrial-scale distillation attacks on our models by DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax.
These labs created over 24,000 fraudulent accounts and generated over 16 million exchanges with Claude, extracting its capabilities to train and improve their own models.

With the rise of large language models, we will likely see more of this behavior. A responsible researcher should stand by every word written in their paper and must always double check these AI slop.

Okay so, we just found that over 50 papers published at @Neurips 2025 have AI hallucinations I don't think people realize how bad the slop is right now It's not just that researchers from @GoogleDeepMind, @Meta, @MIT, @Cambridge_Uni are using AI - they allowed LLMs to generate hallucinations in their papers and didn't notice at all. It's insane that these made it through peer review👇
