7/ CLINICAL TAKEAWAYS • EIH is common, not universal in knee OA • Explore + look to influence pre-ex anxiety & expectations (lots more to explore) • Don’t oversell exercise as magic pain relief; stay pro movement & activity Full text 👉 mdpi.com/2077-0383/14/2… Free to share 🙏

6/ HOW MUCH DID WE EXPLAIN? All those variables together explained <20% of the variance in EIH. Unobserved between-person factors accounted for much more. Short-term pain responses to exercise in knee OA are complex and not “one size fits all”.

4/ WHAT DID WE LOOK AT We tested 13 pre-ex factors: age, sex, PPT order, max RPE, CPM, offset analgesia, temporal summation, HADS-A, HADS-D, PCS, TSK, belief that 1 exercise session can reduce pain, and expected change in knee pain.

3/ WHAT WE SAW On average, PPT increased after exercise at both the knee (local) and forearm (remote) → consistent with EIH. But individual responses varied a lot. A sizeable minority showed little change or even increased sensitivity (hyperalgesia).

The WHO recommends muscle strength training at least 2 days/week for general health. Many people though are unsure what to do and/or short on time. If this is you, check out this nice guide on time efficient programmes for muscle strength & hypertrophy link.springer.com/article/10.100…
