@eweir56 @DrTerryQuinn Hi, it is used in some hospitals I believe so worth checking with your physio dept but unforunately it's not routinely used in the NHS yet so may not be available to you. If that's the case you could contact Saebo Ltd directly for further information. Good luck.

@rirish15272775 Yes, but really only some active digital flexion in the thumb and at least one other digit so that a basic grasp action is possible.

@Physio_JenA I am guessing there must be some activation of muscles to begin this training?

@AVERTtrial Thanks Julie. Its registered on clinical trials.gov NCT04007315. Basically both groups get usual care. Active group gets 4 therapy reviews with DHO & encouraged to use daily +/- carer help for 6wks, & control gets 4 extra usual care reviews for upper limb.

6/6 The findings are encouraging and merit further research. We have now started an adequately powered, multi-site RCT to increase the certainty of the role of dynamic hand orthoses after stroke. The trial will involve the SaeboGlove, shown in the video, and is called SUSHI.

5/6 What we found...only four small RCTs (n=48). A lack of precision due to the small sample size, and a high risk of bias due, largely, to poor methodological reporting means that we cannot be certain that the positive effects observed are true.
