A study permit was indeed an essential guarantee of residency then citizenship.

Foreign students are protesting after being denied post-graduation work permits.🚨 Without a valid work permit or another legal basis to remain, many will eventually have to leave Canada under immigration rules. Many of the protesters appear to be Indian nationals. A study permit has never been a guarantee of a work permit or permanent residency. Canada has the right to set and enforce its immigration rules.

What he leaves out are some key facts about what the actual SCC ruling for kirpans are in Canada.
The SCC said that the "reasonable accommodations" was that the kirpan had to be sheathed, sewn closed, made inaccessible for use and worn out of sight beneath clothes. Did the Goodlife guy do that? No it was quite accessible & in plain view.
The thing also looked like a buck knife.
