It really isn't that difficult to stay within your crease. Or to play within the laws of the game.

@VincentBarnes60 But if he didn't put his hand in that position (which places the ball on the ground) he might not have maintained control of it.

The Starc catch has caused a meltdown on social media. If Marias Erasmus had given it out it would also have caused a social media meltdown.I believe that it’s a fair catch. He’s taken it cleanly and under control and his momentum was never going to take him over the rope.

@DONCRICKET @Twitter @VincentBarnes60 @geoffreytoyana @MikeHaysman @RickyPonting I’ve played and watched a lot of cricket, not quite as much a you, but I’ve never seen anyone catch the then slide the ball along the ground. No one does it because they know it’s not out. They always get their hand under ball and slide on their arm. Sloppy is an understatement

WONDERFULLY THE GREAT GAME 🏏 and @twitter has allowed for many ‘opinions’ on the #Starc #Ducket catch…including mine…😅 AMAZING how the majority of ex players and professional coaches / commentators like @VincentBarnes60 @geoffreytoyana @MikeHaysman @RickyPonting etc. all believe it to be OUT and a FAIR CATCH - as that’s what we’ve all seen many times before in play, and it is always given or taken as out. Marais Erasmus is also an ex player - so am surprised but still always respect his opinion… This whole situation however just highlights the CONFUSION and SUBJECTIVITY of “what is in control” and “what is not in control”… The @ICC need to clear this up… The INCONSISTENCIES are the key, as look at the #SteveSmith catch which was given out & then the #MitchellStarc catch not…🤷 The only thing in my humble opinion that #Starc did wrong here was that he was a bit ‘sloppy’ on the way he slid and turned his hand to face along the grass - which has created this whole confusion - as I still personally think that the catch was taken and he was in control…🧐😅🙏🏻 #subjective #Ashes #Ashes23 NEW DAY - with the first 2 hours of play being BIG for both Team @englandcricket & @CricketAus 🏏🏏

Comment on Carte Blanche re potholes in our country is bizarre, to say the least! “We need to teach younger drivers how to drive with potholes in mind”. Surely South Africans do not deserve this, surely not!

In the midst of a heck of a lot of cricket, this story is going to fly under the radar but it shouldn't. Sandeep Lamichhane is due to be named in Nepal's squad as he awaits trial for "sexual coercion of another person." espncricinfo.com/story/lamichha… #cricket
