@jonschaeffer You’d expect that play to be made; but if @sdutPosner dug himself out from behind a computer and stared down a scud hit directly at him, he’d potentially understand why the “mental mistake/misjudgment” clause exists. Described on TV as “a ball that kept carrying” and a “rocket”

The MLB rulebook specifically prohibits an official scorer from ruling an error on “mental mistakes or misjudgments” so the Naylor play was actually ruled 100% correctly.

@jonschaeffer @jonschaeffer Unfortunately, scoring has become a lost art... but you would hope a Sports Editor of a major paper would have a better grasp on MLB scoring rules... Ironicaly, his comeback further (and sadly) illustrates your point.
