"[Prison watchdogs] flagged that the unnamed mother had been reformed and remained on the straight and narrow in the years since her release, with the recall now meaning she had now lost her job following the historic breach."
📢 The House of Lords will be voting on new laws to change the way pregnant people & primary carers are sentenced❗️

Absolutely blown away that @KeeganSmith_Law and I have been awarded Criminal Law Firm of the Year!
This recognises our focus on childhood trauma and protection of the profession during the pandemic.
@MOTSI_MABUSE I hope this has been reported to the RSPCA and they are investigating. She should be charged and not allowed to have horses or any other animals.

Cant actually believe Im posting this. Where have we come to in society when this can happen in the middle of a US state? Greatest democracy in the world my arse! This is a society on its way out. Woman raped on train as commuters stood by and did nothing. apple.news/ALgnOtDCdSqmlS…
If you want to know what the job means in real life (outwith the bumph) then feel free to message for a chat. eg this week focused in our long term training strategy, working with international colleagues on counter terrorism, MAPPA and developing understanding of risk in justice
Great to see children are invited to come along to visits this week in their school uniform if they wish to have a photo opportunity with their loved one!
@KeeganSmith_Law No one should be impressed on the basis they are homeless. Local authorities have a responsibility to accommodate homeless individuals. Case should be adjourned for court social worker to liaise with their colleagues in housing services to arrange accommodation. Straightforward
"Time spent in prison can have a catastrophic effect on women’s lives, causing them to lose their homes, custody of their children and their job". Far too many women are still being unnecessarily remanded. sundaypost.com/fp/women-on-re…
Discharge grants of around £75 are provided to all sentenced prisoners on release. Prisoners released from remand receive no financial support and will typically wait at least 4 weeks for benefit payments to be reinstated. #DemandLessRemand@KeithBrownSNP@COPFS@scottishprisons
