JUST IN: A trial-awaiting inmate transferred from the Kavango West Region to the Rundu police holding cells escaped custody while being offloaded from the police vehicle into the station.
According to police on the scene, the suspect ran from the station to the Kavango Gateway Mall, where he climbed onto a building and is now threatening to jump.
Police negotiators are on site, working to bring the situation under control as officers secure the area.

@ngurare Honorable prime minister, can you please address this issue in parliament and the @NamPresidency ! There is absolutely no reason to be rushing, security can still be maintained by careful planning and have a sweeper vehicle that can alert road users via the lights!
