@DomenicVadala If Rizzo is so great, why is he still unemployed? You just have a grudge against analytics and the guys who support them. It is now the basic tool used by MLB and all pro sports. You need to adapt or get left behind.
Not speaking about any specific team, but if a team wanted a bona fide GM tomorrow, one is out there. His name is Mike Rizzo. Not an analytics guy at all. He also knows what it takes; he won a WS.
@DomenicVadala So you are the Neville Chamberlain for the Os? Don’t call anyone out. Don’t criticize the Os. Don’t be anti-Os. Now I get it. Just sit down and take it. That is not the Os fans I know.
Albernaz is the best guy the Os can find? He’s a joke. When will Elias be shown the door?
@PioneerHOF But I’d rather be seen as a peacemaker and someone who works with others as opposed to one who calls others out and holds their hands to the fire. And if I do end up doing that, I do it passive-aggressively as opposed to bluntly.
@DomenicVadala Every time I see the Os manager do his postgame interviews, I cringe. The Nats manager is much more comfortable with the media. Think about it. If he manages the Nats for the next 30 years, he will only be 63 when he retires. He seems very comfortable in his own skin.
@DomenicVadala If the manager is awful, you cut your losses, admit it was the wrong hire and move forward. Are you worried the Os will hurt his feelings? Get real. It’s a cut throat business. The Os need an owner like Peter Angelos again. He would not put up with this nonsense!
@DomenicVadala I do not recognize the Orioles. What happened to “The Oriole Way”? They used to draft well, develop players and make good trades. This team is poorly coached and look like a bunch of losers. I’m glad the Earl of Baltimore is not around to see this crappy team!
@PioneerHOF Again, no chance the algorithm told Blaze Alexander to bunt the other day. He did. It worked. Use it as a tool. But not as a modus operandi. Especially in the age of nuclear weapons.
Russia has a dead man’s trigger on their nukes. Run by computers. That should scare anyone.
DeCamara and Ritchie are SHOCKED at Josh Harris blatantly answering from his notes during Thursday's press conference:
"If you were really sweating it from the heart the way we are, you could just extemporaneously speak from the heart. And that's what we expect. That's what we hope for. That's what we wish we had in you."
@DomenicVadala Get use to it! Computers and robots someday will be as common as our smartphones. It will affect all segments of society from athletics, business, financial, health, manufacturing, politics, government, personal relationships etc.
@DomenicVadala I’d be willing to bet, if you took 2 very good MLB managers and one used analytics and the other his gut over 50 games, the analytics manager would crush the other manager.
@DomenicVadala Tomorrow the 20&24 Os visit the 21&23 Nats for a 3 game weekend Beltway Series. Who at the beginning of this season had these records on their bingo card?
@PioneerHOF And I’ve told them I’m willing to humor them because they pay me. But if they knew my real life opinion of computers running everything, they’d fire me and blacklist me.
Sam Kinison was an ordained Pentecostal preacher before he became a comedian. He debuted this at Rodney Dangerfield's HBO special in 1985. He died in a car crash 7 years later aged 38. George Carlin called him "the last of the truly dangerous comedians."
@GrantPaulsen It’s part of the maturity process. I’m sure both MLB and the Nats will have discussions with him. I’ll be shocked if he does anything like that again. If he does, then there is an issue.
@DomenicVadala Beginning of this season the Nationals were predicted to win in the low 60s. This group, all under 40, use analytics exclusively. As of today the Nats stand at 21&22. Everyday, batting lineups change & pitchers are matched against the hitters. It works. Embrace it.
@DomenicVadala I just don’t understand why you are so anti-analytics. Is it because you just don’t understand how to use analytics? I’m sure there’s a book you can use as a reference.
Most #Sixers fans got their wish. BREAKING: Daryl Morey is out as president of basketball operations with the @76ers after six seasons, sources tell ESPN. Morey and 76ers owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer met on Tuesday evening in Philadelphia and the decision was made to part ways.
Not a surprise to me.
@DomenicVadala What’s happen to the Os offense. The genius Elias has certainly built a juggernaut.
Also, the fans sound like mostly a Yankee crowd. If this continues, every game will sound like a road game.
@DomenicVadala I miss Rex Barney as the Os PA announcer. “Give that fan a contract” was his slogan after a foul ball goes into the stands and caught by a Os fan.
@PioneerHOF Yeah but you could lose 20-0 and that’s more respectable than forfeiting. Computer analytics would say, “yes, 9-0 is better.” But nobody buys into that except the front office.
