The Atlantic just released this tool that lets you see if your YouTube videos have been scraped for AI training. Going to be a lot of (rightfully) angry YouTube creators, I suspect. Great work, yet again, by @_alexreisner theatlantic.com/technology/arc…

The Quinntessential Review
With the #EdFringe society having announced the return of Anthropic and Claude as the "Official Education Partner of the Fringe for 2025." The Quinntessential Review would be fascinated to talk to any 2024 #EdFringe folks who experienced it last year and have any views on how useful or not it was. Comment, DM, or contact via the site.

We won! We're over the moon that #ManyGoodMen won @creativeedinburgh award for Innovation. The young participants from the project gave a touching speech & we are incredibly proud to have worked with them & our partners on this.

@RobKitchin I’m teaching my Narratives of Digital Capitalism MSc module today - this is a great example to use in class!

Who are perceived readers/buyers? Why buy when can formulate own prompts to write? What level of trust in content? How plagiarism handled given entirely made from other texts? How peers view & promotion boards handle? Can Springer sink any lower in its extractive capitalism?

Fancy buying a ‘machine-generated literature review’ of digital geographies for €192.59? Just stumbled across this book. So many questions related to audience, editor, publisher, scholarship, academic integrity, etc. link.springer.com/book/978981974…

@RichardACarter2 It definitely does - I have complete block on academic writing - everything I’ve written has been adapted from a script or blog or funding application. Or it’s been spec fiction. PS - I’d love to read / listen to the keynote - where/when is it?!

6,000 word keynote script done. Almost tempted to polish it up and submit it as an article somewhere (I say this chiefly because I lament the fact my "actual" academic writing is never this quick, when 500 words a day is a triumph - one wonders if the mentality shift helps?)

Missed this when it became CA law in July: AB 2370 was originally written to say "artificial intelligence shall not be used to replace faculty." Was revised to simply say that "the instructor of record for a course of instruction shall be a person..."
