Poll of the day! Is Shohei Ohtani a buy, hold, or sell player right now? I personally do not see his market increasing much more than what it is currently at. However, it could be a foolish move to sell while his global market continues to rise.

@PittsburghFan33 @GabeyCardStacks It’s hard to compare because there are so many more people in the hobby, but iirc Trout base cards were going for $5-800 in 2012 which is an insane thought considering inflation. He also held the most expensive modern sale until 2016. Never claimed a nose dive.

I know the moment I buy an Ohtani card the market will start to go down So instead I am accepting payment from Ohtani holders for me to not buy Ohtani and thus save their market. Thanks!

@pete_dui @GabeyCardStacks You’ve been in the hobby a long time huh? When was the last time you saw a player in demand like Ohtani? And I acknowledge that his mass produced cards will drop. Don’t count on any rare/parallel/SP with low pop counts to ever take a nose dive.

I own/am a fan of Ohtani but ive also been in the hobby long enough to see what happens when players fall off/suffer catastrophic injuries.

@pete_dui @GabeyCardStacks I agree with you that it’s absurd. But it is what it is. I’m not buying at these prices. We are at a point where his PSA 10s are in a completely different demographic of buyers. The days of his rookie cards being $100 or $200 are gone forever. Again my opinion.

@pete_dui @GabeyCardStacks You underestimate the international demand part. We’ve seen nothing like this before in the hobby. Demand is king in the hobby.
