🚨INCREDIBLE LONG-TERM BITCOIN PREDICTION 🚀 Years ago, @Giovann35084111 discovered the beautiful power law for Bitcoin. @hcburger1 made the model popular thanks to his post in September 2019. #Bitcoin

Wow! Great news, Giovanni. I wish more people understood how revolutionary a scientific approach to Bitcoin really is. Even many hardcore Bitcoiners dismiss the value of science for some reason. For me, the power law is by far the strongest argument for Bitcoin. There isn’t a second best.

Good news. The peer-reviewed journal where we submitted the first Power Law paper has sent us the reviewers’ comments, and they are generally positive. They suggested that the paper could be published if we make some relatively minor revisions. It would be a major milestone when the Bitcoin Power Law is finally recognized as a scientific result that has passed peer review.

Sam Bankman-Fried (via FTX/Alameda) bought a huge stake in Anthropic that’s now worth $60–75 billion today. The ‘genius’ liquidator sold it for just $1.3 billion two years ago. How the hell is that possible? It‘s not that the AI revolution just started today. To me, it looks like FTX investors got screwed badly by the liquidator and the law firm that hired him.

Davidson & Lord Rees-Mogg wrote this in “The Sovereign Individual”about Germany almost 30 years ago. Since then, everything has deteriorated even further… Germans are no longer capable nor efficient. And the welfare state is completely out of control.

OpenAI solving old mathematical problems is earth-shattering for mathematicians. Most are still in denial, assuming that this won’t change anything. “It was just another Erdős problem,” they will say. But I’m convinced that LLMs are on the verge of solving the “big” open questions, such as the Riemann Hypothesis. And if they succeed, the role of the mathematician will have to be redefined.
Anthony Bonato@Anthony_Bonato

Like many mathematicians, I’m a bit shell-shocked by the OpenAI breakthrough on the unit-distance problem, which was an 80-year-old one posed by Erdős. What does this mean for research mathematicians and for mathematics in general? A stream-of-consciousness thread
