@Victor_Lucas The problem is the budgets for the games. No company these days is going to keep pumping millions into a studio that is taking years to create a game that doesnt sell. They have shareholders to answer to.

Hey game industry experts in my replies… sometimes game franchises don’t sell huge numbers with their first instalment but if a game wins multiple awards and they’ve built an incredible world to continue exploring, the smart play — if you are in fact a game publisher interested in making video games — is to keep betting on the studio. There are decades of examples of this. But yeah, Call of Duty is fun.

If all these people on Twitter clutching their pearls over Compulsion Games, Double Fine, and Ninja Theory actually bought their games they wouldn’t be in danger of shutting down. But they didn’t and now they’re putting on an act for engagement and console war points.

it's cool asf on Xbox that you can download a game before you're ready to buy it. So say you plan to buy a game on a given day but don't have the money yet, you can just download the game a week earlier and then when you buy it it's just ready straight away no need to download

@jayworks13 @idonotexistelol No. On xbox you can Download ANY game via the app to your console without the licence. Then when you put the disc in, that works as your licence.

We are ruled by idiots.
Do they not know every 15 year old revises GCSE’s on YouTube?
Do they not know that teenagers track their friends are home safely on SnapChat?
Do they not realise that - especially in rural areas with no transport - teenagers social lives are on… social media.
Do they not know that teenagers will find ways round - as has been shown in Australia.
This ban is illogical and damaging.
If I hear another parent say “it’s so hard to police them” I’ll scream. It’s a parent’s job. Take responsibility the children you are meant to be bringing up.
It is not the government’s job to look after your children.
But the government will now insist all adults provide ID to prove we are over 18.

If you're owned by a megacorp you will either be making big commercial hits or you will be making nothing. More and more the "passion" games have to be breakouts like E33 and the like. Yes, this also applies to Sony studios, which has already done a few of these shutdowns itself

Fine: Two of the studios I've been told, including getting messages from employees at the locations who are "scared", are Compulsion and Arkane. Despite public messaging, many within the studios have expressed real worry and have overheard conversations about the future of the studios. I've reached out to Xbox for comment, but to no avail thus far.
