Highly recommend @PlanningAlerts a free service from @OpenAustralia which alerts you to development applications in your area so you have time to respond. Super handy when your little suburb is subject to creeping DAs by stealth & the local paper is defunct #community #localgov

We've just added support for the GeoJSON format to the PlanningAlerts API. See planningalerts.org.au/api/howto This is good for GIS users and also makes it easy to integrate PlanningAlerts with some open source mapping tools

Happy for Moreton Bay Regional Council in Queensland @MoretonBayTweet to be back on PlanningAlerts. After the council switched over to a custom system for showing development applications we wrote a custom scraper to get the information. 450,000 people can get alerts once again!

Ku-ring-gai Council @krgcouncil is back on PlanningAlerts too now. You were blocking all overseas traffic to your website which was stopping us from getting at the information but we'll overlook that! :-)

Then we'll be working on some bigger long term solutions to make sure that an email getting hard bounced by a council doesn't happen quietly... Undoubtedly we'll figure out more as we go but that's the plan right now! :-)

We're taking a bunch of steps to fix the problem at different levels. First we're resending comments by hand that didn't get delivered. Then, we'll be trying to work with the council to figure out why there's an intermittent email problem. Then...
