Frogs in the bogbean.

Common milkweed doesn't like my yard and I stopped trying to make it work years ago. But it volunteers itself enough that I always have some. Today I found a couple of caterpillars on it.

The local Wild Ones native plant sale I went to a couple weeks ago still had some leftovers so I went back today and grabbed a couple more. Obedient plant is going in the wild space along my large fire pit. Turtlehead will be going in my pond's bog filter.

This patch of blue flag iris was planted in a fairly dry part of my yard but it does well and has even spread a few feet.

Pond life in my garden pond.

Oh cool! I never see six-spotted tiger beetles at home, but this one landed on my patio near my garden pond.

Photos from this morning's garden walk. Blue flag iris has begun blooming!

@Crypt1cGengar For whatever reason, it's this particular species (Liatris ligulistylis). Although I have heard that Liatris aspera is a good alternative for people who aren't in the range for L. ligulistylis.

@PlantNativeWI Are all liatris on the favorite list or is this particular species different?

I have about 70 meadow blazing star seedlings (not all pictured here). Monarch butterflies' favorite nectar source!

I don't have a good photo of it since it's been in a cage for a few years, but my pagoda dogwood is looking good!

Photos from this morning's garden walk. A house wren may be looking to nest in my nest box, and just under the box is a patch of meadow anemone that a bee was sheltering in.

Blue-eyed grass has started blooming!

Planted about eight woodland sunflowers today and twice as many zig zag goldenrods. Can't wait for them to bloom one day!

Spiderwort and wild geranium.

@mabarnes3 I was just watching a ruby-throated hummingbird there this morning!

@PlantNativeWI That's a beautiful patch. You must have butterflies and hummingbirds visiting there.

My restored woodland-style garden strip is looking good! This is it's peak bloom time, but there should be at least 1 or 2 species in bloom along here at any given time for the remainder of the growing season. More species will be added in the future.
