Planes peel back this midsummer morn,
the tear in air rolls away to the north for the birds to fill with patience and a scorch of June sun. Bracken now runs over head high drowning all but the foxgloves, sentinels in a sea of green fronds. The air is humid and ripe, the turn of

"I wait for the spring blush, the green swathe which dances across the forest canopy as the buds break from frond tips to new leaf.
The scales then switch from the winter of heavy greens and rusted browns, from mush and mould to…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables

"First nubs of buds bless the frond tips
sap is soon to be summoned
and the birch geyser within
her skeletal forms of feather and broom
be filled with light and leaf
and spring will gush forth
and raise this landlocked reef" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables
English

"A thrill of birdsong washes my wander
surfacing through the morning noise, fresher, stronger
than the thicket of thoughts slowly flotsam sorted
spun away through the chirrup and deliciously distorted" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables

"First spring blossom
sap rising
buds bursting to snow flurries
duck feathers on twig tips
flashes of blush swathe and melt
canopy and ground petal dusted
pollinators slumber on" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables
English

"Trail, biscuit dry crying for winter rains
Sky dark and snow laden
Birds ready for the spring maiden
Trees patient in winter pause
All sap in the root
Awaiting the calling
Steady for now as feathers shall be falling" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables
English

"The village path opened again today, after spilling the under heart of every upstream pan
Derelictions of duty by the water board man, again
The trail is awash with wraiths and grey ghosts
The doings and flushing’s from higher…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables

"Stirrups of bird song begin my tramp
The deep freeze looses its grip
And the crust of frozen mud oozes back into slip
And perhaps a corner has rounded the season today
Up and out of this winter rut
Still a long climb from here…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #SevenFables

"Dawn light and the frost glitters in the first blush
Braids of ice still streak the trail
Grass, dusted hard, all brittle crisp to the foot
Mud, basalt solid, keeping casts of foot and hoof fossil from the week before
Contrails slit…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent

"The lip of the river was clipped last night
The flotsam tideline sits yards over her heels and all the flesh of the gravel path has been scoured, seared and peeled
Every trail I walk is spilling, joyful and gushing
All stretches…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent

"Wolf moon watches in wane
Over deer park fields all swollen with rains
I tread the folds of deer park tracks
The cross cut ascents and the slurred stumbles back" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent

"The river Avil rages to my west
Full with sea fever from her banks to her crests
Dyed with the red irons and oxides of the vale
She gnashes at her modest restrains ripe to loose the flail" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent

"January one, and Dunster deer park is calm
The rains have blown out and blustered up a balm
The winter-born becks all fork wet tongues after the rains
Befuddling my bearings and leading me astray
I wonder if the year to come will be…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent

"The forest is fooling me this morn, as the trail turns and bracken spools away either side of this muddy cut. The crumbling wet ferns are all dark and restless from recent snow, rare in these parts.
Surges of copper rust bank away,…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent

"Past the stir of mud and lichen fingered copse
Past the pimpled lawn hummocks of anthill hopscotch
Past the fading ash trees and dormant primrose grove
Over glistening worm stools and ponies all grass at nose
Past briar thickets…" #Dunster #Exmoor @talesartplay #Advent
