The Pokemon market has been in a bull market for the last 2-ish years. Bull markets generally last for 2-3 years, so history says the market will be turning to a bear market sooner than later. The first sign of this is that a set that was massively hyped, featuring one of the most popular Pokemon of all time, is decreasing rather than increasing, like every other big chase in the last 2-ish years.

I told him this card was a gamble. He sent it anyway. It came back a PSA 10. PackFax measured this Pikachu at: • 45/55 left/right • 45/55 top/bottom • 55.48 worst ratio That put it just outside the usual 55/45 Gem Mint centering guideline. My take at the time: could it still gem? yes. would I personally risk it? probably not. He took the gamble. It paid off. This is why I don’t treat centering like a simple yes/no. Some cards are clear sends. Some are clear passes. Some are borderline risk decisions. This one hit.

Black Bolt & White Flare will age better than Ascended Heroes. Ascended Heroes is top-heavy. Black Bolt & White Flare have 156 IR/SIR cards across the entire Unova Pokédex — carried by a generation that doesn’t have adult money YET. That creates WAY more long-term collector demand. What do you guys think?

This is what I mean when I say there’s money on the ground on eBay. Most buyers see a flaw. PackFax measured this Charizard at 54.56 worst ratio, still inside PSA’s Gem Mint centering guideline. One person is going to get a PSA 10 candidate because everyone else guessed instead of measured.
