Jean Barish says the Zoning Administrator's interpretation should be upheld. "The height and bulk of this monstrous building [2700 Sloat] are non-conforming. . . . There's no question that this skyscraper has too much visible wall surface."

Hello San Francisco. I'm attending a Board of Appeals hearing for an appeal of the Planning Department's proposed amendment to the Planning Code that would stop the 2700 Sloat housing project—a.k.a. the Sunset Tower.

currently helping my best friend’s bf choose her engagement ring which reminds me of my fav reddit post wherein the woman was upset about her hideous engagement ring and everyone was like it can’t be that bad and then it was worse than anyone could have ever imagined

@miocyon More woke mind virus propaganda from Fauci. I'm gonna diarrhea in my pool as much as I want. Worse case, I get a mild cold and take some ivermectin. We have to live our lives.

@goldnecklace2 @adamkotsko @RottenInDenmark Tipping fatigue is real. Tipping used to be a specific contexts and now it's everywhere that accepts credit cards. With zero transparency wrt how workers are paid or how tips are distributed, it isn't supporting workers. It's just a shakedown of other working class people.

@maxdubler What's the point of refusing to empathize with people who like their neighborhood? Just feels like punching down because they like their home and you think it's tacky.

@humanvibration @PopBase Not sure about this one. The lighting, angle, and shading is slightly different. But in a more general sense, what is a photo of the same object supposed to look like? Don't tourists usually recreate iconic photos so people they show it to instantly recognize where they went?

‘The Simpsons’ writer and producer Mike Reiss revealed he went on three trips with OceanGate, including one to see the Titanic wreckage last summer on the submersible. He details that passengers were required to sign a waiver that mentioned death three times on the first page.

@hvost @iamnbutler Sounds like you might want to be more intentional about what you consume related to design. When it's an act of intentional curation, not just chasing what you think other people are paying attention to, you'll find what you're looking for in abundance.

@iamnbutler You’re right and they don’t owe us anything. I just want designers to be aware of the fact that what they see/read the most about (tools and craft) isn’t what will make them successful 😊 When you see it all day on TW, LI and major conferences, it’s easy to start believing it.

Config, the most prominent design conference has 46 talks. 0 are about the design career. Why is it a problem and what they should do instead:

Going downtown I got a ticket for supposedly failure to display proof of payment for $125. I swiped!! and even saw my clipper balance. Apparently, talking to the agent at the station it says I got on the K train at 12:30AM instead of pm today. Appeal is on the way @SFMTA_Muni.

@theluxtravler @daniel_s_larson @SFMTA_Muni I got a ticket for fare evasion under very similar circumstances and while I was politely giving my info to the cops a gutterpunk who they also said evaded fare called them pigs, spit on them, and walked away. She did not get a ticket.

@daniel_s_larson @SFMTA_Muni Just know that a fare inspector cannot physically restrain you. You can leave the bus/train without having to show them your ID for fare inspection. They are not sworn police officers and they cannot touch you and hold you back.

You can do both too. It’s 2023 after all and remote work is a thing.
Calvin Rosser@calvin_rosser

@p_millerd I think you can do both, especially today. I spent 23-27 working for companies remotely, traveling to heaps of countries. Built skills + made money + enjoyed single life. Cash allowed for much better travel. Skills + cash helped fuel flexible life starting in late 20s.

If you’re single go travel. Just go. Don’t waste time on your career like I did in my 20s.
