Uganda Alcohol Policy Alliance

While in Arua City recently, we (our National Coordinator @MargaretNassan2 and our Finance Officer @ronald_ayen ) just couldn't come back to Kampala without engaging members of the @AruaCityJournos . 😁 Members of the Fourth Estate are so crucial in moving information to all our fellow Ugandans in their respective capacities and it's only proper that this assignment is done in the most informed way possible. Alongside our co-organisers Voice of Restoration International, our interaction focused on alcohol-related harm and how to best report it in the dailies and on the airwaves.

On 9th May 2026, we were in Kigunddu zone of Kawempe Division in Kampala district, with our comrades @sauti116 from @Moglsd_UG . We had a session on awareness creation for women on matters relating to Gender-Based Violence, alcohol harm control and Partner Violence Against Children. #endgbv

The 28th day of April 2026 got us (our Coordinator @MargaretNassan2 and our Finance Officer @ronald_ayen ) in Arua City, specifically at Muni Girls Secondary School. We were visitors and facilitators at Muni Girls S.S for a school outreach with our co-facilitators (Anabo Peter and Andima Richard) from our member institution Voice of Restoration International. The primary aim of this outreach was to raise awareness and foster dialogue among learners on key social and health issues, including: i. Alcohol-related harm and its effects. ii. Violence against children, Youth vulnerability and risk behaviors. iii. Child Protection- personal safety and self-protection measures. The session was highly interactive, with learners actively participating in discussions. Key areas explored included: i. Exposure to alcohol within households and communities. ii. Whether learners are sent to purchase alcohol. iii. Existing family norms and restrictions regarding alcohol consumption. We engaged the students to highlight the strong link between alcohol consumption and violence against children and they were able to relate, citing community examples. #endgbv

This was me last week, in attendance and on duty of a PTA meeting at Mpererwe COU Primary School with my comrades @policyuganda and @sauti116 . To fight and end gender-based violence, it'll take the efforts and input of everybody!

November 26th and November 27th 2026 - is when the #UAPC26 shall be held. This was us (our Board Vice-Chairperson @BagumaRT , our General Secretary @AturindePruden2 , our Coordinator @MargaretNassan2 , our partner @AlfredJatho plus our Secretariat staff @ntemid , @ronald_ayen and @archerfrom1997 ) on Wednesday, as we locked in further on preparations of this very important conference!
