Scotland Yard has begun trawling through CCTV on the street where Morgan McSweeney reported his phone was stolen in an attempt to “establish the facts” McSweeney, the prime minister’s chief of staff at the time, contacted 999 on October 20 last year and reported that a “government device” had been stolen. He said he gave chase but the thief, who was riding a bike, got away Scotland Yard this week took the unusual step of publishing the verbatim transcript of McSweeney’s call as it sought to push back at criticism of its failure to investigate the theft of the phone Officers are now going through CCTV and other footage from Belgrave Road in Pimlico as part of a review. McSweeney could be asked for further clarification as part of the review Police originally recorded the wrong address for the crime, assuming it had taken place on a road with a similar name five miles away in east London rather than in central London thetimes.com/article/1f65c9…

Starmer looked ten times more at ease being interviewed by @BethRigby than he did talking to a class of kids. Unless he’s in the company of his shills, this pathetic little man always look terrified.

I’ve noticed “I act in the British national interest” has been Starmer’s favourite phrase of late. It should of course hardly need saying. It seems to me to come from a place of defensiveness. For in reality Starmer instinctively always thinks first of international law, never mind whether in our national interest or not
ITV News@itvnews

'A lot of what [Trump] said is designed to put pressure on me to change my mind and to get dragged into this war' 'I'm the British prime minister, and I act in the British national interest' Starmer defended the UK-US relationship to ITV News Social Affairs Correspondent @SarahCorkerNews

Quite apart from anything else, this just isn’t true. I for one was beating him up more than himself, because I think his lies and lack of judgment make him unfit to be prime minister and so I was calling on him to resign or be ousted. I don’t think he was doing that.
Beth Rigby@BethRigby

WATCH: Starmer on ‘beating himself up’ over Mandelson is worth watching because I really think it’s a very rare & believable moment where Starmer reveals how he’s really feeling; showing some vulnerability and anger with himself over the decision he took

DOCUMENTARY TONIGHT: Don’t miss my hour long @Channel4 special on Keir Starmer’s premiership. How can it be that a landslide prime minister’s authority can drain so quickly? Is it him and his failures? Or is it a political system which is all now but ungovernable? TUNE IN 8pm.

@SamCoatesSky @robpowellnews Why is sky news wasting effort explaining journalistic basics? Just F’ing get on and investigate this massive scandal. If anything should be being explained it’s why Beth Rigby is soft soaping the PM when he should be being rigorously held to account. Shambles.

Why are journalists - including at Sky News - asking about Morgan McSweeney’s phone. Are we indulging in an absurd conspiracy theories? Do read this piece by @robpowellnews which explains eloquently why that’s our job - and gives recent examples where it was right to probe news.sky.com/story/morgan-m…

@michaelgove Why did he belittle the importance of the PM's Chief of Staff having his phone stolen, though, Michael? That wasn't very brave?

This Saturday, I’m joining the Together march for unity against the far right. People are really struggling. But instead of offering real alternatives to our rigged economy, the far-right are scapegoating migrants and minorities. Join us. Let’s show hope will win over hate!

Starmer loves lashing out at business! Petrol stations, tech companies, because he can mouth off about business without kick-back and so acts all tough. But he does F all about the massive stuff he can control - ie Taxes and Spending, because he’s a weak, pathetic little man.
ITVPolitics@ITVNewsPolitics

'We're gonna have to have a fight here,' says PM as he promises to take on tech companies using addictive features to get children hooked on screens 'Whatever happens here, we're going to change the law,' said Starmer, claiming he is on 'the side of parents and carers'
