I'm dubious about political truth in advertising laws, but surely a line has to be drawn at panhandling for cash with resort to claims that are baldly untrue, in politics as in business

@kevinbonham I noticed this today. I expect Corey to be running this line in the future

@PollBludger Not strongly proportional - in its 5 seat form it can yield some very unproportional results - I was thinking of the balance of representation if you want to retain a proportional upper house

Social media is naturally awash right now with calls for the abolition of preferential voting, which would do precisely nothing to address the issue being raised. Yet to be see in the wild (by me at least): a call for what would, namely proportional representation.

The Liberals have made a late rally in Morphett after doing quite a lot better at the electorate's early voting centre than they did on election day. Now lineball. pollbludger.net/sa2026/Results…

@auspolsucks @BiripiGuri @CaseyBriggs Ngadjuri maybe, check out Anthony Green's latest update. He just came from the SA EC counting rooms and it is a huge mess with a lot of these being frozen partial votes based only off pre-polls. Remember prepolling was very high. There are going to be recounts completing Sat.

Further counting in Ngadjuri has seen Labor’s Tony Piccolo gain on Liberal MP Penny Pratt, meaning Pratt will likely be knocked out. One Nation’s David Paton is therefore the favourite to win on Liberal preferences

I don’t judge you for not reading News Corp tabloids, but as someone who peruses them every day, I can tell you his bylines are all over the place

@TheKennyDevine @MisinfoFact @pwafork James isn’t a journalist, and to be fair, has never claimed to be. He was a wine blogger, and republican propagandist with the occasional column in the Tele, which the editor decided qualified him to be briefly, their federal political correspondent.

Then your glibly worded comment shouldn't have placed the onus of legitimacy entirely on the electoral support of one's own party
Wheel reinventor@wheelreinvent

@PollBludger No, completely different. She had to get support from other parties, such that together they represented a majority proportion of voters. Meanwhile Albo governs with a majority of seats in spite of having no such support.

So Jacinda Ardern "was somehow 'elected' in spite of receiving (just more than) 35% of the primary vote". Under proportional representation, Albanese would have been too.
Wheel reinventor@wheelreinvent

@PollBludger Not sure why the largest party ought to have any significance, what matters is forming a majority. Jacinda Ardern for instance become PM while not being from the largest party, do you have a conceptual problem with that?
