Not as cool as Cotton. Christian, programmer, husband, hiker. I intentionally like prayer requests after I pray about them.

Reading the rabbinic literature made me realize how the rabbis smack talk each other. It's good to read what happened after the post-70 temple period. The positions are a little funny, but they also contain some very well-written knowledge. They also have theological issues.

@gonefishin1948 I don't currently live in an area with many Catholics or Orthodox brothers. Is it more common for them to emphasize their denomination?

Usually a Christian who is not Orthodox or Catholic will not say what group of other Christians they belong to. Why?

It seems the Boers who have come to America are outdoing us for patriotism. We need to step up.

@GreeneMan6 From the listener's side we need better ways to find you. I'm not sure if that looks like an webring or something much better but it has to be possible.

Everyone I know here is a experiencing the same problem: Xitter - higher engagement than ever, no growth in a year Substack - 4x the engagement as last year, no growth YouTube - continued high enragement, no growth So what causes this? Perhaps our “right-wing” sphere just hit limits of its growth? This doesn’t make sense, we are making constant inroads into other demographics, and until we hit “Daily Wire” levels we haven’t exhausted the number of people willing to hear our message. Perhaps people are just ‘logging off’? That can’t be the case since there is higher engagement than ever. Perhaps an algorithm change or shadow-ban? Ok, but it works strange. Usually engagement and growth track together. It’s almost like social media has been “siloed” such that people are encouraged to watch what they already watch but really nothing new.

Besides Revelation, I think the most misunderstood book in the Bible is probably the book of Job.

You should try and learn to give more attention to the process and the work itself rather than the end result. Way of working is always better to think about than the reward. If you can’t enjoy the process, the end result will be meaningless or super short lived. Funny enough, this mindset will make the end result even better.

@elonmusk That is a neat idea but the cost of running an LLM would have to come down a lot to justify not having repeatable, portable lower layers.

Problem is the left has no answer to climate change except for energy poverty, "abundance liberalism" is an absurd dream, almost a contradiction in terms given what the coalition actually believes This dynamic makes denying the problem a rational choice
spor@sporadica

at what point do conservatives just own up to the fact that this is real and happening and it’s abnormal and just because liberals are really fucking annoying about it is not a reason to disregard it
