He's saying the next actual move by the Fed is more likely to be higher, not lower. Why he's saying this: ＞Inflation has already hit 3.8% ＞DoubleLine's models suggest the next CPI reading could start with 4% ＞Short-term Treasury yields are trading above the upper bound of the Fed funds rate ＞and incoming Chair Kevin Warsh is taking over in this environment Polymarket odds: ＞June: 98% odds of no change ＞July: 94% odds of no change ＞September: 81% odds of no change The further out we go, the less confident the market becomes that rates will stay unchanged - and the more it starts pricing in the risk of a hike. The Fed will almost certainly hold rates in both June and July. Now there's little room to ease - and if inflation stays hot, the next real move is more likely to be a hike. The question is no longer when the Fed will cut. It's how quickly they'll be willing to hike.
