I hope the momentum harnessed by our campaign can now translate to citizens working together to make residential voices heard, and working with our county officials to insist on a future for Howard County that preserves our shared values.

Unrestrained residential development will continue to erode the county’s open spaces. Taxes will continue to escalate to cover the costs of new infrastructure and to offset the loss of revenues from arbitrary tax breaks.

The final tally of votes for Howard County Council came in last night, with David Yungmann taking a clear victory for District 5, with over 52% of the votes. I thank all the supporters of my campaign. As a political newcomer, I was overwhelmed by your enthusiasm for our message

@Hiruy4HoCo HoCo residents have enough of mounting taxes and wondering where the money is going. As D5 councilmember, I would have joined Deb Jung and Liz Walsh. They consistently voted for the interests of residents, while the current 3-2 majority votes for special-interest give-aways.

Councilmember David Yungmann, who has received over $6,500 in campaign contributions from IMA voted against it. Councilmembers Opel Jones and Christiana Rigby also voted against it. In voting against ending the subsidy, Yungmann agreed that it was a indeed a “perk.”

It’s My Amphitheater is a for-profit concert venue operator that runs Merriweather Post Pavilion. Every year it receives millions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies. #hocopolice #hcpss #hocopolitics #hocomd

@Pontius4HoCoD5 Great example of how folks don't understand market value of land. This acre was rectangle ~25'W x 1500'. Setbacks and size made it totally unusable for anyone but adjacent owners. No one builds a 10'x1400' building!
