Link Hoewing, Fair Access for Western MoCo Chair, just testified about the reopening of White’s Ferry, after a new bi-county study shows it’s value to regional commuters. He pressed Loudoun Co supervisors to act soon given the ferry has been closed for nearly one year.

White’s Ferry on the Potomac has been closed almost a year. A new study released by Montgomery & Loudoun counties today is giving some hope it could reopen. Since it closed land owners on the Virginia & Maryland sides have not been able to come to an agreement to reopen it.

Pres. Kerri Cook testified @mocoboe Mon night saying the community was grateful for approved PHS renovations but it needs to be treated like other #MoCo public HS renos. BOE board members @ShebraEvans & Judy Docca said it would be great to get a new gym &staff’s working on it.

A wellness center for PHS will help ensure our youth have the support they need to cope with anxiety. As mental health issues soar among high schoolers, it should be a no-brainer for the PHS redesign to include a wellness center.

The new proposed Poolesville High School meets or exceeds our expectations in many ways, but the plans fall short when it comes to gym space. PHS has just as many kids participating in sports and fitness activities as the larger county high schools. A modern-sized gym is a must.
