There was a middle school in my neighborhood that is now a bunch of vacant luxury condos, because Rahm decided finding public education wasn’t important and closed 50 schools in Chicago.

Another teachers strike would be a political disaster for Mayor Lori Lightfoot. CPS has two more days to hopefully avoid a lockout and strike. There was real progress at bargaining today between the mayor's team and CTU. Who else is exhausted and whiplashed?

Right wingers like Troy claim forcing children back into class in a pandemic is “equity.” Don’t buy it. Black and brown parents largely opted to keep their students at home. Wealthy white northside parents have been pushing reopening. Because they don’t value teacher’s lives.

I have a few friends who work in the school system, and they both excitedly texted me earlier this month about vaccination appointments. Except whoops, now those have been cancelled, and the school district seemingly has no plan to get teachers and school staff vaccinated.

It is completely wild that CPS and the mayor are calling BASIC asks, like literally any vaccination plan for teachers, unreasonable.

@snorenat If people in the US can provide evidence and show international condemnation against this, I have a group here I'd like to pass this around to for calls/testimonials. Is that alright?

@snorenat It's explicitly clear in this language that the purpose of this, like all bathroom bills like it, is to make it difficult/impossible for trans people to exist in public. The specific call out against even gender neutral bathrooms is horrible and absurd.
