GPU cloud instances are a scarce resource, and you generally can’t get what you want when you want it. Why isn’t GPU time being auctioned, instead of sold at flat rates? Yes, consumers hate variable pricing, but businesses understand it, and auctions underpin a good chunk of the modern economy. On a technical level, if we have the ability to suspend an entire node to storage and resume it later, users could set a price ceiling on a reservation, so if they get outbid, their work just pauses until either demand goes back down, or they decide to throw more money at it.
