@Jacob_Rees_Mogg Well said Jacob. These complacent overpaid doctors have used the Covid crisis to retreat back into their snug surgeries and avoid seeing sick people. Telephone and online appointments are now actually killing off the elderly who do not have access to smartphones or computers.

How long before this starts forcing lorries off the road because they’re dependent on fuel from service stations? What about access to services for drivers when half the country is queuing for the last drop of petrol?

@justsnoozing Fortunately , most large distribution firms will have there own diesel tanks at depots ( mind you a busy yard could get through a tanker load in a few days )
Also , there is a network of truck stops will sell diesel

The shock in question was the introduction of the EU’s, driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) which saw drivers across Europe question why they were having to qualify for a job they had been doing all their lives, and opting for retirement.

Personally, I don’t agree with a lot of this by @julianHjessop. There is a whole question that has to be answered with regard the state of the transport industry going into the pandemic, and so far I have not seen it asked or answered.

Daily 11 hour rest period , can be reduced to 9 hours on 3 occasions between weekly rest period. Legal but safe ?

@fastcarspete Have you signed to opt out of the working time directive though? It shd say in your contract what your status is. Regardless of this, are you still getting your statutory 11 hours rest between finishing one shift and starting another? I'm worried for you H&S
