For the record, I am not bringing those Adekunle Gold’s vitriol at GEJ because of some of your “glass house and stones” rhetorics. I am saying since he was that critical of the government under GEJ, why so silent when we have it thrice as bad now? Goose and gander??

Today, we are once again witnessing the reckless abuse of @policenh powers against social media users in Nigeria. What is even more disturbing is how some Nigerian celebrities now appear more eager than politicians and security agencies to throw largely poor young Nigerians into prison under the guise of “cybercrime,” simply because of internet banter or comments they dislike. I have read reports about singers like @Simi and @AdekunleGold allegedly using the police against critics online, and now similar allegations involving @ayrastarr and others keep surfacing. Meanwhile, these same celebrities sit comfortably among international stars abroad demanding respect and award for creative freedom and artistic expression, yet many of those global celebrities would never (and functioning systems) won’t let them weaponize the police, corrupt prosecutors, or compromised court judges against ordinary citizens over free speech or online commentary. This growing culture of criminalizing speech, jokes, criticism, trolling, and online banter is dangerous to democracy and fundamentally incompatible with freedom of expression. The real shame belongs to the irresponsible Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG and sections of the justice system that continue enabling these abuses instead of protecting citizens’ rights. The police must stop acting as private enforcers for the rich, connected and powerful. Nigerians cannot continue to be shipped to prison because influential people are offended online. #RevolutionNow

Djibril Cisse on his celebrations after the famous title-winning Sergio Aguero goal at the Etihad Stadium in 2012: “I’m not going to take this accusation any longer. I was celebrating with Samir Nasri. I didn’t celebrate with Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero or anybody else. I celebrated with my brother, Samir, who had been a friend of mine for 15 years. I was happy for my friend and also that we managed to stay up. I don’t care about Man City. My friend finally won the Premier League after many years in England and I was happy for him and also for me. That’s all.”

Dear Mr. Sunday Obuseh, we are constrained to finally make this open appeal to you after all efforts made privately to you were ignored. Sometime in February a contact who had you as beneficiary in their bank app mistakenly forwarded to you a sum of N4,020,000 which was meant for business to another beneficiary. After all entreaties and eventual court order, you reluctantly reversed only N2,030,000. Since then, you’ve blocked the contact from reaching you again. We tried to make peace between you by sending you message but you ignored. The man who erroneously made the transfer to you has now been stopped from work due to this and has his benefits used to cover loses that occasioned from the error. It is ungidly to treat fellow human this way. You can still retrace Mr. Obuseh!
