Anyhow, for more on this theme, join @RozierHistorian, @KathrynHurlock and I at @IMC_Leeds next July to talk about monumental representations of the Middle Ages. Abstracts still welcomed until 15 Sept! #medievaltwitter

I'd offer a reflection on what this statue, its history, and the life of the figure it depicts say about the UK's links to continental Europe- on this most pivotal of days- but then the only other statue directly next to the Houses of Parliament is of Oliver Cromwell. Go figure.

Just found a digitised version of British Library MS Add 8873 (Collectio Brittanica) available at BL's website. Genuinely over the moon. Made my day, week and year. #medievaltwitter

Planning for #IMC2020? We're seeking 1)presenters for #EPSBrevia. 2)papers on bishop as a builder/bishop's buildings. May consider theme strand & approach bishop as as defining/rejecting borders. Might also consider the bishop as builder broadly. @PotBConf #MedievalTwitter

@PotBConf We're also seeing to sponsor/support panel proposals on bishops/secular clergy connected to the theme strand. Topics beyond Europe and sessions by/supporting early career researchers are encouraged! Email episcopussociety@gmail.com before September 1st #MedievalTwitter @PotBConf

It's the 75th anniversary of 'A Canterbury Tale', which was released on 21 August 1944 - a strange and wonderful wartime film about pilgrimage, love, history, and the imaginative draw of the past. I wrote about it for @HistoryToday here: historytoday.com/archive/out-ma…

In response to our CFP for @IMC_Leeds #IMC2020 we're seeking to fill a session on early medieval bishops as church builders. May include bishop as patron, hagiography, letter writing, etc. Got an idea, email episcopussociety@gmail.com @PotBConf #BishopAsPatron

Today is the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, 'Lady Day in harvest'. An Anglo-Saxon version of one very popular legend about the end of Mary's life on earth: aclerkofoxford.blogspot.com/2017/08/as-sun…
