A 73-year-old suspect shot and killed Jonathan Fourie and injured Deon Fourie at Chubby Chick's Potchefstroom headquarters on November 10. The incident followed a meeting about a property transaction between the brothers, who were directors, and the suspect. The suspect left the building after the meeting but returned approximately 30 minutes later and shot Deon Fourie multiple times in the boardroom. Jonathan Fourie was also shot when he intervened. The suspect, unconnected to Chubby Chick, was injured during the incident and is under police guard. Deon Fourie is in a critical but stable condition after surgery, while Jonathan Fourie died on the scene.
