If caught drink driving you can expect a criminal record, a 12 month driving ban, an unlimited fine, up to 6 months in prison and an endorsement on your license for 11 years. If you're watching the game this evening, leave your car at home, book a taxi or use public transport.

Red watch have been completing a High Volume Pump initial course at various locations. We are lucky to be able to use such great training locations, such as Ellesmere port light house, and Runcorn Rowing club.

Warm weather brings extra vehicles onto our roads. Holidays and day trips in the car, towing caravans and cycle riding all put greater demands on drivers and riders as we travel further afield while the sun shines. Here are a few tips to help keep you safe this summer.

Green Watch have conducted RTC training this week. The crews took part in a number of scenarios using a wide range of extrication equipment. In this picture, a 'dashboard lift' is being carried out using the spreaders to create space to free a casualty from physical entrapment.

Speed is a contributory factor in 25% of fatal accidents. The faster you drive, the less time you have to stop a vehicle if something unexpected happens. A speed limit is the absolute maximum. It doesn't mean it's safe to drive at that speed in every road and weather condition.

Powey Lane Red Watch, honoured the brave armed forces personnel in the 1944 Normandy Landings, with a two minute silence. This year is the 80th anniversary of D-day, where they risked their lives for our freedom and peace. We thank all our Veterans for their service.

Driving while distracted is as dangerous as falling asleep at the wheel or drink driving. You can get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine if you hold and use a phone, sat nav, or tablet while driving. If you've passed your test in the last two years, you will lose your licence.

Seatbelts save lives. Research has shown that almost one in four people who died in road traffic collisions in the UK were not wearing a seatbelt. Secure your seatbelt and ensure moveable objects are secure to avoid them hitting the driver or passenger in the event of an impact.

Driving requires full concentration and anything that impairs our ability to focus makes having a collision more likely. This includes alcohol, illegal drugs and medication that may affect ability and judgement. If you've had a drink or taken drugs, don't drive.

Driving a motor vehicle is a privilege not a right, it comes with great responsibility. Tailgating, lane hogging, undertaking and using the wrong lane at a roundabout are all examples of careless driving. Never put yourself or other road users at risk by driving irresponsibly.

There are five main causes of serious injuries and deaths on our regions roads. These are known as the Fatal 5. Road users who commit one of the Fatal 5 offences are more likely to be involved in a fatal collision than those who do not. Stay safe and avoid the Fatal 5.
