North Carolina just authorized the emplacement of Flock cameras on every single state road. You ask, What's the penalty for police officers who abuse this intelligence collection sensor suite, and use the surveillance tools illegally? It's a misdemeanor. Same class as petty larceny.

Our issues with China are much deeper than election interference. I’ve spent most of my 26+ year career in cyber security fighting Chinese espionage, subversion, extortion, and overall undermining of our nation—much of that in national defense contexts. As the lead of multiple threat intelligence programs at cyber security companies, China and Russia were among my specialities. If you are curious about this, look into “made in China 2025” and China’s 5 year plan. They are very public about their intention to subdue the US under their global control, and they are insanely aggressive about it. We have lost industries to them, companies, patents, national secrets, medical research, medical records of citizens, technical processes, business processes…economic opportunity, prosperity, and the value of our dollar is weakened directly by this. Their methods of espionage and subversion are extremely aggressive as well: planting people, extorting their own citizens, implanting malware on our devices, redirecting Internet traffic to their systems for information collection… China is effectively at war with us. They have been for a long time. But we have been able to absorb the losses they bring us, though at tremendous cost. All of this is well known but the leaders of our nation and of our industry have not wanted to address this because we are also dependent on China in many ways. We need to break free.
