Solid waste collection update January 13-17: Republic Services is running behind. Please put your bins at the curb on your regular trash day and leave them there until they have been serviced.

School is back in session, and it's important for children to have safe routes to school. Now that Public Works crews have finished plowing operations, team members are clearing sidewalks in public areas. Please help out by shoveling the sidewalk in front of your home.

The second system is NotifyJoco, a county partnership designed primarily for emergency alert notifications. Sign up at NotifyJoco.org to receive text messages and/or email alerts. This is the system that we use for notifications about delays or changes in trash service.

The city uses two systems to deliver email notices to residents. One is e-notifications through our website. Enroll at pvkansas.com/enews & choose topics you want to receive email about, ranging from meeting agendas & event notices to general news & council actions.

As of right now, Republic Services plans to collect Wednesday-Friday routes *on time.* Please help spread the word since this is a change from the previously reported one-day delay.

There's a new plan for this week's trash collection: Trash, recycling, and yard waste collection for Monday and Tuesday routes has been *canceled.* Residents on Monday and Tuesday routes can put out extra trash and yard waste next week. (Recycling is always unlimited.)

Plows are slowed down at some locations due to stuck vehicles blocking their paths. There are also locations where drivers have parked on both sides of residential streets, preventing plow trucks from fitting between them. These areas will not be plowed until vehicles are moved.

So where are we in snow clearing operations? As of 11 a.m. Monday, 1/6: Priority Level 1 (main roadways) and Priority Level 2 (collector streets) are complete with the exception of a few intersection corners where snow needs removed.

We want to shout out a huge THANK YOU to the Public Works team. Crews have been working around the clock since 4 pm Saturday on rotating 12-hour shifts - 1/2 of each crew has also been sleeping at PW during their off shifts to ensure they can make it back for their next shift.

The winter storm will also have an impact on trash services as Republic Services will not run trucks Monday. There will be at least a one-day delay all week. More details will be posted as they become available. More storm updates and reminders are at pvkansas.com/Home/Component…

City offices will be closed Monday, January 6 due to the impacts of the winter storm. Public Works crews will continue their plowing operations, and police will continue to work throughout the storm.
