@TheConfusion @bmj_latest If one factor is associated with 25% of deaths in a population then it is indeed significant. I do not think there is anything to misinterpret - many people drink alcohol, if babies are in their own cot then they cannot be rolled over. That is the message.

@bmj_latest Interesting, the article fails to address the base-rate, so you could as easily say that 75% of infant deaths had NOT co-sleeping as a factor. Also, 12 of the 19 deaths whilst co-sleeping involved alcohol or drugs. We need to take care not to misrepresent this...

Extra yrs are a deterrent to the physician-scientist pathway IMO - if I do the postdoc I want I’ll be a 39-40yo new staff..!
