The #TwinCities experienced a year unlike any other in 2020: #COVID19, the murder of #GeorgeFloyd, and the rioting that followed. Five years later, recovery remains uneven. A Precarious State explores WHY, and what it will take to move forward. Watch the premiere Thursday, Oct 2 at 7 p.m. on ABC stations throughout MN. #APrecariousState

"There's just a different energy there…and they're proud that businesses are moving." Darin Lynch – founder of Minneapolis-based e-commerce agency Irish Titan and a member of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Foundation – shares why he’s prioritizing growth in Austin, TX over Minnesota – and what signals pushed that decision. Minnesota’s workforce is projected to grow 0.1% this decade. Texas: 10–15%. That’s a difference of more than 100-to-1 in workforce growth. Darin Lynch explains how workforce trends and computer science education gaps shape what companies here can realistically hire for. Darin is the founder of Irish Titan, an e-commerce agency launched in Minneapolis in 2004 – and a member of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Darin Lynch says the business climate in Minneapolis feels very different from when he started his company over 20 years ago – from new mandates to a growing sense that policy is being “done to” business owners rather than being created “with” them. Darin is the founder of Irish Titan, an e-commerce agency launched in Minneapolis in 2004 – and a member of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Foundation. DSA-endorsed candidates inside the Minneapolis DFL are advancing proposals far from traditional Democratic priorities – from abolishing police and prisons to placing major industries under public control. Watch "Not Your Grandma’s DFL" on YouTube now. youtu.be/gI9QpH0IGwg

"I have been watching the response to the documentary and there have been a number of themes. One theme is attacking the documentary without even watching it." – Dr. Carol Becker, Editor, Minneapolis Times “State of Denial: A Response to the Precarious State Documentary” Find a link to the article, and watch the full documentary at PrecariousState.com  #APrecariousState #Minnesota #Minneapolis #Documentary

A welcome insight amid an off-track conversation about funding. Thanks @annbauerwriter – the real story is in the documentary. Watch the full film and Q&A at precariousstate.com.
Ann Bauer@annbauerwriter

Problem here is the @StarTribune has it backward. The story is that business/arts/community leaders who funded a documentary about obviously deteriorating conditions in Minnesota are AFRAID to be identified, because of what might happen to them. Why is that?

OP: "...and the ‘concerned’ white guys being trotted out are all his friends". Producer Rick Kupchella has said in recent interviews that A Precarious State was inspired – at least in part – by conversations with friends and colleagues about what’s happening in Minnesota today. You can hear one example in his interview on the Tom Barnard podcast: youtube.com/live/aNvrXOeLM… Not everyone featured in the doc is a personal friend or professional colleague. The film includes a range of voices and perspectives, and we’re grateful to everyone who was willing to have these honest, sometimes difficult conversations on camera. Hope this answers your question.

The director of APS has talked about the (relevant) points you make, in length during recent podcast interviews – even naming that he began these conversations with friends and colleagues about the state of MN. This team trusts that Minnesotans are capable of verifying the data we've laid out in the doc for themselves through the same public sources we've used – and cited. And then participate in the work of finding solutions. We hope you take a moment to watch the doc at precariousstate.com

@PrecariousState @StarTribune This is a “documentary” in the same sense that ‘Fall of Minneapolis’ was. For folks watching at home, Rick runs a PR firm (literally), his wife works for UHG (big promoter of corp real estate in the area), and the ‘concerned’ white guys being trotted out are all his friends 🤣🤣

@Sean_Olsen @StarTribune Folks should verify the data in the doc if they've found it concerning. If you’ve found an error in the data we presented – please point to it. We’re listening.

We hope you watch the full documentary at precariousstate.com where we've begun to uncover – with verifiable sources – business, economy, public safety, education, and residential decline. No one documentary can tell the full story. We hope we've sparked a meaningful conversation, and more importantly, actionable participation from our citizens.

Instead of questioning @RickKupchella motives for A Precarious State - people who claim to care about MN’s future should ask why: ❌Academic performance is declining ❌Record amounts of wealth are fleeing MN ❌MN has a worst in the nation fraud epidemic

"I'm glad that a lot of people are going to be exposed to what's going on, and I'm glad to see Democrats are willing to step up and not only go and work and produce documentaries like this, but also speak out on what's been happening and how we need to change things in Minneapolis." @JonJustice reacts to A Precarious State — the new documentary on Minneapolis’ challenges.
