The US robbed Taiwan's nuclear weapons in 1988
I was born and raised in the UNITED STATES as the child of CHINESE people from TAIWAN. I appreciate China. I respect China. My beloved grandmother was born in the 22nd year of the Republic. After her passing, I asked my mother "婆婆喜歡的是臺灣呢? 還是中華民國?" 1/

My point isn't that Taiwan has gay marriage therefore it deserves independence, it's that Taiwan is a very liberalized Democratic country and it makes zero sense for white leftist tankies to be so eager to see "reunification" given the country is hardly fascist or far-right
Sweet Summer Shunü 甜夏淑女 - REBORN ❤️💛💜💍@Tianxiashunv

1. You can either choose "Taiwan is a democracy" OR "Taiwan is LGBT-friendly" because the gay marriage was approved AGAINST the mandate of a quorate referendum. 2. By this logic you should have opposed German reunification too since the DDR had better LGBT rights.

1: I don't need a "saliva Ukraine" guy giving me a lecture about DNA. 2: China and Chinese nationalism has never been about race since Guofu Sun Yat-sen, and the CCP embraces China's cultural diversity as does Taiwan ROC. 3: The US became independent by kicking Britain's ass.

@PredebutVTuber @patchyhistory @ItoAyamiStan @thefoolsniffer2 American citizen? You are British then /s So somehow every sane country lives with the outcome of WW2, and the cold war, but only the CCP can't manage to put their 19th century han race based politics away Newsflash, the communist party doesn't own han DNA

@lesraith The PRC has been patient with Taiwan for 77 years, giving Taiwan every benefit of the doubt and continue doing so. The US is the one not recognizing Taiwan's self determination and repeatedly thwarts it. Their worst offense was destroying Taiwan's nuclear weapons program. 2/2

@lesraith You don't understand history and the political dynamic. The PRC and the ROC straight up do not recognize each other. The CCP and the KMT fought a winner-take-all war and did not finish it. These governments are not supposed to co-exist, but China is beyond ROC or PRC. 1/

Xiangyu is correctly pointing out the contradiction of the western world. If Taiwan's sovereignty was so important, then why is it that almost every part of the world not Taiwan or China is imposing their opinion on the issue?
鍾翔宇 Xiangyu@notXiangyu

Dear foreigners: Taiwan is the HOME of 23 million people. It is NOT your stage for your geopolitical virtue signaling. Stay out of our affairs. If you cared about the will of the people, then let us sort out our own issues between ourselves and our mainland compatriots.

@lesraith Yeah but that's not the issue we're talking about. The main point is Taiwan is part of China. You seem to think China is the PRC. If you looked at history, there's a certain government that disputes that.

You mean the Treaty of Shimonoseki? Are you actually kidding me? Are you ragebaiting? That was many things, but Taiwan independence was not one of those.
michaelturton@michaelturton

@PredebutVTuber @IslaIsland886 Japan retained sovereignty until April 28, 1952. That is how the postwar order works. Taiwan was never "returned" to China. Treaties are normal after wars. Before Japan, Taiwan declared independence in 1895. Remember? Before that it was part of the Manchu (Qing) empire.

@PredebutVTuber 我读过资本论,很受欺负 但其也有时代局限。马克思在中国还好,基本上是无害的符号,真正影响左派工运应该是列宁,这才是目前中共不愿意提及的人物

@PredebutVTuber if the people of Taiwan wanted to be reunified with the mainland they'd probably vote for the party that would push for unification with the mainland

@RayJNorwoodIn07 known without metrics, so the core issue is never confronted merit-based test-only system would force educators to get those numbers up or face getting replaced it protects against grade inflation, or propping up of one person of a minority to represent the whole group

@PredebutVTuber It wouldn't force leaders to fix the issue because it's already been known for the past century where education quality is lacking and they don't give a shit lol

The idea of adopting a Gaokao system in the US would not be to pit kids against each other in endless studying, but to materially and definitively show where education resources and quality are lacking and force leaders to fix the issue. Right now the problems are muddled.
Hamptone2DaBone@RayJNorwoodIn07

@PredebutVTuber No, East Asian testing is something that needs to stay over there. We don't need to adopt the worst aspects of Asian culture.

@PerunistG China literally cannot do it. Taiwan is part of China. The most you could say is the CCP sends military police to hold down Taiwan in martial law. But it's not an invasion just like the US cannot invade Hawaii or Guam or Puerto Rico.
