On This Day in 2014 - a 5-0 win for @ManCity over @FulhamFC in front of a crowd of 47,262 at the Etihad Stadium - the goals coming from a Yaya Toure hat-trick and late strikes from Fernandinho and Demichelis. City collected their fourth title win at the end of the season, finishing two points ahead of Liverpool, as well as winning the League Cup. It was a season of struggle for Fulham, however, as they were relegated in 19th place. City's programme for the day featured 84 pages and cost £3. On This Day in 1981 - a 2-1 win for @WBA against @NFFC. An own goal from Forest's Bryn Gunn put Albion ahead in the first half. Gary Mills equalised for the visitors early in the second half, before a John Deehan winner secured the points for Albion. It was a successful season for West Brom - achieving a fourth placed finish with a team featuring the likes of Bryan Robson and top-scorer Cyrille Regis. Forest, who were defending European champions at the time, couldn't maintain the heights of the previous few seasons, finishing 7th. On This Day in 1990 - @QPR and @AVFCOfficial play out a 1-1 draw in front of 15,856 at Loftus Road. Colin Clarke put QPR ahead in the second half - before an equaliser for Villa from Kent Nielsen saw the match end level. QPR achieved a comfortable mid-table finish in 1990 - ending in 11th place - while Villa achieved their best finish since winning the title in 1981, finishing 2nd behind champions Liverpool. On This Day in 2000 - Leeds United defeat WImbledon 4-1 in front of a crowd of 39,256 at Elland Road. Two goals from Eirik Bakke and one each from Ian Harte and Harry Kewell earned the points for Leeds after Jason Euell had given the visitors an early lead. It was a successful season for Leeds as they finished 3rd and qualified for the Champions League. For Wimbledon, it was to be the last of 14 seasons in the top-flight as they were relegated in 18th place. The Leeds programme for the match featured 68 pages and cost £2.50. On This Day in 2006 - a 2-0 win for @OfficialBWFC over @SunderlandAFC at the Reebok Stadium. Goals from Kevin Davies and Kevin Nolan earned all three points for Bolton - in front of a crowd of 23,568. Despite an inconsistent end to the season, Bolton finished in 8th place - their third of four successive top ten finishes. It was a season to forget for Sunderland however as they finished bottom of the table with just 15 points. Bolton's programme for the day ran to 84 pages and cost £3. On This Day in 1984 - @WatfordFC earn a 1-0 win over @QPR at Vicarage Road. A single goal from captain Wilf Rostron was enough to earn Watford the points in from of a crowd of 18,645. After their second-place finish the season before, Watford would end 1983/84 in 11th place but did make the FA Cup Final - before losing 2-0 to Everton at Wembley. Despite their defeat at Watford, QPR finished the season in 5th place - just seven points behind champions Liverpool. Watford's programme for the QPR match featured 24 pages and cost 50p. On This Day in 2014 - a 4-2 win for @SouthamptonFC over @NorwichCityFC. A crowd of 29,828 at St Mary's saw Southampton move into a 3-0 lead with goals from Schneiderlin, Lambert, and Rodriguez. Late goals from Elmander and Snodgrass reduced the arrears for Norwich before a 90th minute Gallagher goal secured all three points for the Saints. Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, Southampton achieved an 8th place finish, while Norwich's season would end in relegation in 18th place.
