Isaac Chavez of Amherst appears to have taken down the Class C 100-meter record of 10.70 set by Dylan Kautz of Norfolk Catholic in 2018. Isaac ran a 10.69 (+1.5 m/s) at yesterday’s C8 meet at Kearney Catholic. He had previously run a wind-legal 10.88 at Ravenna on 4/16/26; in 2025 he finished 3rd at State in Class D in both the 100 and 200. He also finished 8th in the 100 as a sophomore. (We probably have a picture of him from yesterday's meet, but our original post included a photo of his teammate.)

About half of our active Nerds have children competing in high school. A fun milestone for the Nerds tonight: Nerd children Ava Brennan (Nerdennan) and Lilly Harris (Nor’easter Nerd) finished 1st and 2nd in the C4 3200 to advance to Burke.

With a huge assist from DC Aquinas coach Tony Smith, we've finished our 'live' posting of C2 results from Louisville. Tony's hard work today, coupled with the same work from Dundy County Stratton's Mike Spargo at yesterday's D7 Southern Valley meet, allowed about 3,000 unique visitors over the past two days to assess whether their favorite athletes were headed to Burke as at-large qualifiers. Many thanks to these two coaches for serving the Nebraska T&F community in this unique way. Keep in mind that West Holt and Hartington both pushed their start times back today due to high winds in the morning, so those results will be running behind the rest of the meets. 8:50 p.m. tomorrow night @Fremonttrack alum Juan Gonzalez will run in 10,000-meter in Lincoln.

According to Donkey Nerd, on site at the C8 meet at Kearney Catholic, Hazel Haarberg takes down her Class C 200 record of 23.88 set at her conference meet, and Dejaz DeFrand’s All-Class record of 23.74 from 2022, with her 23.54 (+1.3 m/s) in today’s District finals.

Two starter legends are in Grant today for the C9 meet. Don Softley and Jon Forney are color coordinated and ready to make some noise. It’s a great day for track and field, especially when we have Word Nerd, Science Nerd, Nerd Stammpede and Blurry Nerd on site in Grant.

This has apparently turned into a Doug Kubik fan page. The man with 45 years of officiating experience is the starter at West Holt and he’ll be hanging out with River Nerd all day.

There will be no live results from C2 in Louisville. However, Coach Tony Smith from DC Aquinas is going to send me photos of results sheets throughout the day. Please note that start times at West Holt and Hartington have been moved back to avoid heavy winds this morning.

Damani Allen of Omaha Westview finished 4th in the Class A 400 in 2025, and his 2026 SB of 49.93 put him in solid contention for a return trip back to Burke. However, yesterday he lost his left shoe during his Districts 400 at Lincoln High. He gutted through it, and his 51.98 (a one-shoe PB) was good enough to earn an at-large spot at State. Due to forecasted high winds tomorrow morning, the C5 District start times have been pushed back.

Our low-tech solution to the lack of live results at the D7 meet in Southern Valley: DCS Coach Mike Spargo is texting me photos of the results and I'm adding them to the results page below. We'll see if Coach Spargo can keep this pace all day.
