The Biden-Harris Administration wrote a playbook to grow the economy from the middle-out and bottom-up that would benefit every American. Four years in, this economy created 16.6 million new jobs, saw the lowest average unemployment rate than any administration in the last 50 years, and saw over 21 million applications to start new businesses. To the Southern California families impacted by this disaster: I know you are in a living nightmare. I promise we’re going to help you get through this and eventually recover and rebuild.

I've approved Governor Newsom’s request for a major disaster declaration and ordered Federal assistance to supplement response efforts in areas affected by wildfires, ensuring impacted communities and survivors have immediate access to funds and resources to begin their recovery.

We’re prepared to do anything and everything, as long as it takes, to contain the Southern California fires and help reconstruct. But we know it'll be a hell of a long way. The federal government is here to stay as long as you need us.

This week, @POTUS will travel to New Orleans, Los Angeles, the Eastern Coachella Valley, and Rome in addition to attending the State Funeral for former President Jimmy Carter.

In the coming days, the President and First Lady will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana. The President and First Lady will grieve with the families and community members impacted by the tragic attack on January 1st and meet with local and state officials on the ground.
