My cousin sat for the last JAMB The girl had been preparing for months past questions, tutorials, the whole thing. She walked into that exam hall ready. Midway through the mathematics section, the computer system went off. Just like that. No warning, no restart. She lost everything she had been working through, and had to continue shaken and scattered.

If you earn 200k monthly, you daily earning is 9,500 Naira. And Nigerians will be mocking Okada riders that earn more than that per day. We need to drop classism and embrace reality 😂

If your iPhone has two sims it’s refurbished❌ iPhones with 2 sims were iPhones with only e-sim E-sim only iPhones are usually way cheaper, so Nigerians buy them in bulk Take them to china so they could cut the phone open and create a sim tray Once a sim tray has been installed, they sell it way more expensive. For example, they buy iPhone 15 pro e-sim only for 500K, then after it has been refurbished into a 2 sim iPhone It’ll be sold for up to 1M naira Easy 500K profit✅

My first job in the UK 🇬🇧 was pot washing in a fancy hotel kitchen 😭🇬🇧 On one of my first shifts, I decided to impress everybody with my “hardworking Naija spirit” 😂 The pile of pots and plates they expected to last 5 hours of the shift, Omo I finished everything in 3 hours 😇😆 I was SO proud of myself. In my mind I was like: “Now I can relax small… maybe drink water peacefully and observe life” 😌 So I leaned on the dishwasher machine for literally a few minutes watching the chefs cook. Little did I know… All the sous chefs were acting supervisors and monitoring spirits 😭 “Chi is finished pot washing.” I didn't even see the senior chef 🧑‍🍳 coming. One minute I was watching a man sauté something, the next minute there was a presence beside me.😪 "Right then. Since you're done —" What followed next, I cannot fully explain with words, but I will try.😪 I changed tissue rolls in every tissue lock on the wall. I replaced the liquid soaps hanging over all the sinks around the kitchen, I swept a kitchen that was already clean. I emptied bins that were barely full. I dragged bin trolleys OUTSIDE and cleaned them— with my two hands. I brought out every single cup and plate that I had just washed, dried them AGAIN, and aligned them in the boxes so very carefully 🤣 The man found me work for the remaining two hours. Every. Single. Minute. Accounted for.⏱️ I stood there arranging cups 🫖I had already arranged, and that's when the education hit me This is not Naija 🇳🇬. Nobody here cares that you finished early. If they are paying you for 6 hours, you will WORK for 6 hours.😩 There is no "I've finished, let me rest small." There is no leaning on the machine with your arms folded. There is no watching the chefs cook like you're a food critic.😩 If you finish your task find another one. Clean something. Organise something. Count the spoons and fork if you have to. JUST LOOK busy. Because the moment they catch you idle, they will not give you rest they will give you purpose. And their version of purpose at 2pm on a Tuesday is scrubbing a bin trolley in the cold outside. That day I learned one of the most important lessons of working in the UK:🇬🇧 Your hours belong to them. All of them. Even the quiet ones. I never leaned on that machine again. 😅 To every immigrant reading this — especially if you just started working here . Or you intend to work here, this is not about being lazy or not. It's just a different work culture. The sooner you understand it, the smoother your journey. No rest at work until you clock out.

I once dated a girl that made my confidence disappear completely. 😭 Anytime we argued, she wouldn’t shout or insult me like normal people. She would just look at me quietly, shake her head slowly, and say: “So this is the level of your reasoning?” Omo… instantly, my whole body would reset. One day, I prepared a full speech in my head before calling her to explain why I was right during an argument. The moment I finished talking, she kept quiet for like five seconds and replied: “Are you done embarrassing yourself?” Guys, I apologized immediately without even knowing whether I was wrong again. 😥

One of my classmates sent out his CV last week and got a response from the MD of a company last night, inviting him for an interview by 9 a.m. today. Around 7 a.m. this morning, the MD called him again and said the interview venue had changed, but the time remained the same. Luckily for him, the new location was even closer to where he lives. He got there about 10 minutes before 9 a.m. and was told to wait a little. By 9:15 a.m., he called the MD just to let him know he had arrived. The man told him to wait another 10 minutes because he was in a meeting. My classmate waited… and waited. After over one hour and twenty minutes, he quietly carried his bag and left. About 15 minutes later, the MD called him and asked where he was. My classmate replied, “Sir, I already left.” The man sounded shocked and asked why he would leave after being told to wait. My classmate replied: “I have other commitments today, sir. I can’t work for someone who doesn’t respect time.” The MD replied, "That was the interview and you failed". Was my classmate too impatient?

@Drweloveu Please, Sir. It would hav been so unfortunate if it is taken with levity bt my concern now is that, this has never been the first situation orchestrated by Nigerian institutions and other sectors. One thing is to have the courage and one is to be financially capable to take it up

1. My son, currently in 400 Level Medicine and Surgery scored 333 in JAMB but his name did not even APPEAR on the Admission List. I was later told by the Institution that, my son could be offered Micro Biology. I told the Registrar of the institution POINT BLANK that, "I have spent HUGELY (Several Millions of Naira) to get my Son to this Point of Entry (PoE) to become a Medical Doctor and not to become a Biology Teacher through her offer of Micro Biology. This Registrar was so MEAN. She simply told me, we are very sorry, Micro Biology is the BEST we can OFFER your son. 2. At this Juncture, I proceeded to JAMB Headquarters, Abuja to meet with Prof. Oloyede who swiftly asked for my son's JAMB details, punched these details into his laptop and everything concerning the university came up on his screen. 3. Prof. Oloyede said and I quote: "Dr. Muyiwa Kayode, please go back home and sleep with your two eyes closed. From what I am seeing on my screen, your son is No.3 on the List of Medicine and Surgery of this institution with a JAMB SCORE of 333 which comes behind two other JAMB scores of 348 & 334 respectively. Unfortunately, none of these chaps, including your Son (i.e JAMB Score 348, 334 and 333) made the Admission List" 4. Prof. Oloyede continued and I quote: "Dr. Muyiwa Kayode, in SANE countries, this Institution should have sent the College Driver with an official vehicle to go and fetch your son from Ekiti to campus having projected himself into the MERIT LIST of this Institution but unfortunately, the endemic corruption in these institutions will just not allow them to follow Due Process" 5. Right in my presence, Prof. Oloyede put a call through to the Vice Chancellor of this Institution, setting his phone on speaker and spoke angrily at the Vice Chancellor, lamenting on the endemic corruption under his nose as it concerns university admission. This Vice Chancellor apologized to Prof. Oloyede saying what has just happened must have been an ERROR of OVERSIGHT on the part of his Management Team & promised Prof. Oloyede that he will personally ensure the Error of Oversight is corrected. 6. Within 24 hrs of that conversation between Prof. Oloyede and the Vice Chancellor, my son checked the university's Admission Portal and discovered his name has been INCLUDED as Number Three on the admission list while the names of the other chaps that scored 348 & 334 also appeared on the admission list as Number One and Number Two respectively. 7. The good news in all of these is that, my son that would have been CRIMINALLY denied admission ab-initio now TOPS his class with a G.P.A of 4.85 This is neither Federal nor State government doing... Every sector of the economy in Nigeria is corrupt. Photo: Prof Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board ( JAMB )
