People don’t realize how hard it is to get assists from set pieces. It’s harder than open play in my opinion. In open play, movement is fluid, spaces appear naturally, defenders can lose shape for even a second and creators can improvise. With set pieces, everybody is already set, organized and expecting the ball. Defenders are literally preparing for your delivery before you even touch it. To consistently create assists from corners and free kicks, the delivery has to be almost perfect. The weight, trajectory, timing, pace, height, placement, all of it matters. One inch too deep or too close to the keeper and the chance is gone. Then you also need chemistry with runners, because the movement has to be coordinated to even create separation in crowded areas. That’s why elite set-piece creators stand out so much. Getting 10+ assists from dead-ball situations isn’t luck, it’s repetition, technique and precision under pressure. A lot of people see a corner assist and think it’s routine, but in reality it’s one of the most rehearsed and difficult forms of chance creation in football. You can’t use it to disrespect Bruno
