Low stalk strength seen in this field near Monmouth (Warren Co), mainly due to very dry conditions during grain filling. Only ~1.2” of rain from Aug 1 through mid Sept. Prioritize harvest in fields like this to reduce lodging risk. @ILextension

Checked some plots today in Goodfield, Woodford Co. Crops are looking good in general, and still filling grain. Corn is at R5.5, so another 15-20 days to reach maturity.

Planted in early May, this corn in Christian County is looking great! It's at V9-10 today, with the tassel developing quickly, but not yet visible. New leaves should appear every 2-3 days @ILextension

Cooler-than-normal weather has delayed early-season crop growth in parts of the state. Soybeans planted April 22 in Warren Co began flowering with 4 trifoliates this week, while April 17 planting in Piatt Co hit flowering with 7 trifoliates @ILextension 📸: @federolle97
