@TBProof @TBHIVCare T4: 3HP is an effective method of eliminating infection with just 12 doses of treatment over 3 months. Less pills, less inconvenience, less side effects, less clinic visits, less incomplete TPT and ultimately: less TB disease. #preventtb @Auruminstitute

T4: Why is the inclusion of shorted TPT regimens such as 3HP important? Fun Fact: Our Community Health Care Workers @TBHIVCare refers to TPT as "Thintela" an IsiXhosa word that means to prevent. #PreventTB

@TBHIVCare T3: Now TPT medications are easier to take, for shorter periods so by treating infection we hope to see fewer patients ever becoming ill from TB and reduced spread TB to those around them. #preventtb @Auruminstitute

@TBProof @auruminstitute The new guidelines have increased eligibility for TPT considerably and multiple newer drug regimens but the biggest change is a new attitude: test & treat: every contact should get either TB treatment or TPT. Nobody should leave the clinic with nothing. #preventtb

@TBProof @auruminstitute ‘Prevention is better than Cure’ attributed around 1500s to Dutch Philosopher Desiderius Erasmus. It is better to take care that a problem does not happen than to have to solve it afterwards. Treating active TB only will always keep us behind the curve #preventtb
