Why isn’t David O’Leary spoken about more fondly at Arsenal ? Record appearances. Due to his time at Leeds ?

A lot of people will remember Bernardo Silva as a winner. I personally will always remember him as a snide little wimp who was allowed to get away with too much to the point where he felt comfortable talking tougher than he really was.
City Xtra@City_Xtra

Bernardo Silva on Arsenal: “They’ve been growing and… well, a team that’s been together for five years now, so it’s only natural they man up a little bit and start challenging for titles. Let’s see what happens… “No, I’m not in love [with them]. I do believe our main rivals [in his time at #ManCity] were Liverpool by far. “I also believe - and I know this is very subjective - that if we weren’t in a transitional season and didn’t make so many mistakes, we would’ve won this league. I don’t say easily, but we would’ve won. So it’s quite frustrating…” Full interview with @OliverKay. ⤵️ nytimes.com/athletic/72804…

Any talk about a midfield MUST account of OOP scenarios when Rice isn't on the team. This is the EPL, not Ligue 1. Teams will always try to find scenarios to attack. Imagine a midfield of Wharton-MLS-Zubimendi trying to stop a Newcastle counter (13th place). We don't need to kill Rice just because we can. I actually think MLS can handle, to an extent, Rice's IP duties (high ball carrying and has generalist qualities), but OOP is where the issues arise. While MLS is a really good dueller, he doesn't have the aerial ability or large space coverage ANYWHERE CLOSE to Rice. We can all clearly see how tired Rice is, he's said it himself on interviews after games. You want him to go to the WC and still come and play all the minutes? Hell no. Nobody can cover distances like Rice, no one. The closest would be Onana. So when you think about any solutions for our midfield, you have to think about it in two-fold: 🚫 We need a midfielder who receives comfortably from deep (among our double pivot midfielders, only MLS can do this at a top level) 🚫 We need a midfielder who can defend transitions OOP and duel both aerially and ground at a respectable level (only Rice can do all this among our double pivots, and he does it at an elite level. Zubimendi is a great dueller, but cannot defend large spaces during a transition... same with MLS) These are the solutions: ✅ Elliot Anderson. The cream of the crop. Checks both boxes expertly. Is fantastic OOP but also has superb press resitance. Would be perfect we're it not for the price tag. EPL proven, especially in a team that gives him the build up load. ✅ Mateus Fernandes. He has the duelling of an MLS/Zubimendi, the press resistance of an MLS, while being aerially better than MLS and a better transition defender than both MLS and Zubimendi. He's an even better interceptor of the ball than Zubimendi, and covers ground very well. Cheap, too. EPL proven in a team that gives him the build up load. ✅ James Garner. Underrated as hell. After Onana, Garner is the closest thing to Rice. He's a 7/10 IP and 9.5/10 OOP. He can also play ANYWHERE and perform. Aerially strong, secure in possession, and super versatile. Mentality levels are superb, too. EPL proven in a team that gives him the build up load. ✅ Sign two midfielders. Adam Wharton is not the answer if he'll be our only midfield signing. You have to sign him alongside someone with high OOP chops (Onana, Baleba, James Garner, etc). We're not gonna get Rice injured because we want more technical security. You have to address both problems. This also means we'll have to sell Zubimendi and it'll demand more money in general. So, in summary, you go with Anderson, Fernandes, Garner, or Wharton+an OOP demon. Any other answer doesn't address our midfield needs for next season.

🔴⚪ The nerve. The AUDACITY. Sir, you are right. Referees have cost teams big moments. You are absolutely correct. But since you want to open this conversation — let's open it properly. You didn't say anything when Abdukhodir Khusanov fouled Kai Havertz clean through on goal. DOGSO. Red card AND penalty by the letter of the law. Mikel Arteta said it. Keith Hackett — an ex-referee — said it. The panel said City were fortunate. The referee said nothing. You didn't say anything when Rodri should have walked against Tottenham. Second yellow. Gone. The KMI panel confirmed it after the game. He stayed on. City stayed in the game. You didn't say anything when Rúben Dias should have been sent off against Nottingham Forest. Again — second yellow, confirmed by the independent panel. Again — he stayed on. Again — City benefited. You didn't say anything when Matheus Nunes fouled Kevin Schade TWICE inside and around the box against Brentford. One of them denied a goalscoring chance. Nothing. Not a whistle. You didn't say anything when Bernardo Silva hit a Brentford player. With his hand. Nothing. You didn't say anything when Bernardo Silva grabbed Merlin Röhl's shirt in the box during a corner against Everton. Clear pull. Clear penalty. Nothing. And Marc Guehi — professional last-man foul, no red card. Same player, same pattern. Different treatment. Should I go on? Because I can go on. How many times exactly? How many confirmed, panel-verified, ex-referee-backed decisions went in Man City's favour this season alone? And THIS is the man talking about referees not doing their job? 👀 The biggest beneficiaries of a broken system, standing at a microphone, crying about a broken system. Oh — and while we're here. 115 charges. Financial Fair Play. The most serious allegations in English football history, still hanging over your club like a cloud that won't move. Pep, with the greatest respect — you don't get to claim victimhood in a conversation about integrity. Not you. Not now. Not with that history and not with Manchester City of the last three season, most especially this season. But thank you for speaking. Because the more you talk, the more I have receipts to pull out. COYG. Always. 🔴⚪

🎙️ Gary Neville on the officiating inconsistency in the league: “The moment that goal was disallowed, I immediately called someone I know inside PGMOL. I asked him: ‘So what exactly makes this a foul, but the one in United vs Arsenal earlier this season wasn’t?’ And honestly, the answer annoyed me even more. He told me: ‘This one is an obvious foul because the goalkeeper was deliberately impeded from reaching the ball.’ So immediately I asked: ‘Then why did the Arsenal goal against United stand?’ Because if we’re being serious, the situations are almost identical. In the United game, Altay Bayindir clearly tried to raise his arm to attack the ball and William Saliba literally grabs his arm and stops him from moving. How is that not interference? What kind of football is that? And what frustrated me the most today was how long they spent reviewing the other goal with VAR. So suddenly now we have time to analyse goalkeeper contact carefully? Interesting. Because when it happened to United, there wasn’t this same urgency. That’s where the frustration comes from. Fans can accept mistakes. What they cannot accept is inconsistency.”
