So today I watched a really disturbing story on Citizen TV about the late Justice David Majanja, and honestly, it left me with questions.
Justice Majanja passed away in 2024 and left assets worth over KSh 22 million. He also left a very clear will, everything to his last-born brother, because he trusted him to take care of their ageing parents.
Now here’s where it gets ugly. His other sisters and brothers allegedly went to court and got orders stopping the release of the money. Their argument? That if the will is implemented, they’ll be "disadvantaged" because they may not get anything.
Meanwhile, the parents are fully okay with the will. They’ve been begging the courts to release the funds. The father is sick with cancer and other complications, and they have no money.
Let me ask us honestly: since when did a sibling’s hard-earned wealth become a family entitlement? When did greed start wearing the mask of fairness?
If a will is clear and no minors are affected, courts should protect intent, not entertain selfish delays. Justice delayed here is cruelty, not caution.
And, let’s teach our children this simple truth: you are not entitled to what your brother or sister builds.
So tell me, are these siblings right, or have we normalized injustice in the name of "family"?

Maurice Ogeta was the late Raila’s bodyguard; the man who protected him from every danger except this one time he could do nothing about. Spare a thought for Maurice.#railaodinga
