Has ARC Raiders just killed their own game? ARC Raiders is moving to 2 major updates per year (instead of monthly drops) for bigger changes, while only doing regular balance and big fixes in the meantime. Next big map update is in ~167 days.

can someone explain to me how monthly updates for a game you only pay 40 dollars for once became a standard expectation? i kind of expect more from arc, given the size of studio and huge number of sales you’d think the could go into overdrive to impress. but for most of these games, how can you expect constant free updates? doesn’t this bake in an expectation that the game must sell tons of new cosmetics every month too, which is clearly also taking dev time away from adding to gameplay? or release another 40 sequel the next year? or what?

One thing some people don’t realize about ARC Raiders is that the weekly updates are usually just patches and bug fixes (with maybe a bit of small content here and there). The actual big new content drops happen at the end of the month. It’s also been said officially, but apparently some still expect Embark to drop major content every week!
